ASUS GT-AC5300 overview

  • 1Description

Designed with the gamer in mind, the ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 Wireless Tri-Band Gigabit Router from ASUS features a variety of optimizations to enhance network connectivity, increase stability, and boost overall network performance. Take advantage of optimized gaming ports which prioritize gaming traffic while the Gamers Private Network allows gamers to connect to private game servers to further enhance network performance. If that's not enough, the ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 features enhanced network security complete with its own IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) backed by Trend Micro technology.

The ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 comes with a plethora of connectivity options including support for the 802.11ac Wi-Fi network standard. In addition to 802.11ac support, users can connect to the 2.4 GHz frequency or either of the two 5 GHz frequencies for optimal performance. Once connected, the GT-AC5300 offers enhanced wireless transfer rates of up to 5300 Mbps for lag-free gaming. If a wired network connection is required, this gaming router comes equipped with eight Gigabit Ethernet ports complete with Link Aggregation functionality. Alongside the Ethernet ports are two USB 3.0 ports for connecting peripherals such as hard drives directly to the network.

ROG Gaming Center
This RPG gaming router comes packed with powerful gaming optimizations, and delivers dominating Wi-Fi performance, improved stability and enhanced security. The ROG-themed Gaming Center interface provides easy point-and-click control over every feature. Game Dashboard provides a real-time heads-up display of all your devices and connections, while Game IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) and Game Boost are the command centers for frontline network security and high-performance game acceleration. Other features include Gamers Private Network support with WTFast, congestion-busting Wi-Fi Radar, the Game Radar ping map that shows you where the fastest servers are, and VPN Fusion for simultaneously running a VPN alongside your web connection.
Triple Level Game Accelerations
Optimized Gaming Ports
The ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 provides two gaming LAN ports that are optimized for gaming devices. All traffic on these ports is given top priority, so your gaming devices - or any other devices you want to connect to these ports - are always at the head of the internet queue.
Game Boost
Game Boost analyzes network traffic and prioritizes gaming packets, giving games a second level of acceleration for the best possible performance. Game Boost can be activated instantly with a single click on the Gaming Center dashboard, and it supports many popular consoles, including PS3, PS4, PS4 Pro, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and Xbox One.
Gamers Private Network
The ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 includes built-in support for the Gamers Private Network, powered by WTFast, which provides private, optimized internet connections to game servers, minimizing ping and latency to ensure smooth, lag-free gaming.
Fortified Front Line Network Security
To defend your network, the ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 features Game IPS (Intrusion Prevention System), an intrusion prevention system powered by Trend Micro technology. It protects your gaming network from external attacks and threats, neutralizing them before they can reach your network or devices. Even if your PC's security software isn't turned on - to get around blocked games, for example - Game IPS still protects your network from attacks and intrusions, giving you added peace of mind.
Simultaneous Gaming and VPN
The ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 features VPN Fusion, which lets you run a VPN and an ordinary internet connection - simultaneously. So even if other network users require a VPN, you can still enjoy maximum gaming speeds.
Your Own Gaming Wi-Fi Band
With the tri-band ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 you can easily allocate one of the two 5 GHz bands to gaming devices, while other devices use the second 5 GHz band or the 2.4 GHz band. And for playing VR games and streaming 4K UHD videos, its WAN-to-LAN speeds of up to 1900 Mbps make the ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 a versatile router.
Battle-Ready Hardware
The ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 comes equipped with eight gigabit LAN ports providing the connections you need for all of your gaming devices, while two USB 3.0 ports give you high-speed access to files on USB storage. Hardcore NAS enthusiasts will appreciate the Link Aggregation feature that lets you team two LAN ports together into a single fast 2 Gbps connection.

Link aggregation requires a client with 802.3ad support.
Extreme 1.8 GHz Quad-Core Power
The ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 is powered by a 1.8 GHz 64-bit quad-core CPU that puts many desktop processors to shame. It offers more than enough power to handle anything you can throw at it, without skipping a beat - whether it's maximizing the WAN/LAN throughput for online gaming, supercharging USB data transfers, or powering your team's LAN party.
Built for Wi-Fi Freedom
To achieve the freedom you deserve, the ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 features RangeBoost, a powerful range-enhancing combination of hardware and software that increases coverage while also significantly improving long-range throughput.

    ASUS GT-AC5300 reviews

ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 Wireless Tri-Band Gigabit Router is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME !!!! I have the RT-AC5300 router as my AiMesh mode at the far right side of the house. It use to be my main router. Now I have the GT-AC5300 on the left side of my house as the main router Threw out the entire house and yard I get full strength wifi signal on 2.4ghz and 5ghz. I'm very happy with this product . The only slight concern is that it does use 86% of its ram all the time. Maybe this is normal , i don't know. It is kinda expensive but you will LOVE it. HIGHLY recommended. Kurt

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent router First of all, I would like to thank B&H for the fast delivery and excellent packaging. I have had this router for almost two weeks now. It’s very easyto set up. However, It’s very important to mention that I followed Asus instructions literally and never relied on my own knowledge in setting up routers which I know very well. I strongly recommend to visit Asus website and read everything about the router before purchasing and never rely on third party instructions. It’s important to follow Asus setting up instructions and never ever fiddle with anything during or after setting up the router especially VPN and the like due to the fact that there’s a warning about this. So far, the router is excellent and has given excellent wireless connection speeds, with great coverage, and high stability. The ASUS interface is very good as well. It’s highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GT-AC5300 Insights I was initially very impressed with the packaging for this product. No space is wasted in the packaging. However, I believe there is an issue with the way the 8 antennas are packaged. In my first delivery one of the antennas had a broken collar around the base of the antenna. This prevented the antenna from maintaining an upright mounting position. I received a prompt replacement unit and to my dismay many of the antennas in the second package were also cracked. Between the original unit and replacement unit I was able to get 8 good antennas. The router was installed and exceeds my expectations. I was particularly interested in the link aggregation features and the AiMesh technology. Both features seem to be working well. I find the WiFi range exceptional with the unit mounted only two feet from the floor as it is tested. I expect a higher mounting location will only improve this. I rate this a 4 for a couple of reasons. When I reported the antenna problem to ASUS, they seemed more appreciative to my purchase than to consider the packaging issue. I felt like I had wasted my time trying to help them with a manufacturing issue. Secondly, I feel this unit has been in production long enough to realize the antennas should be packed above the main unit to avoid the broken antenna collars in the first place. I wonder how many customers have had similar issues but just did not report it. Overall, I strongly recommend the product - just check the antennas to be sure they maintain an upright position after installation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing is a monster This router literally has every function that an enterprise grade firewall has, i.e. Cisco. The range is awesome and the 8 Gb ports on the back are a nice bonus. If you are even slightly on the fence about this, go ahead and get it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ASUS ROG RAPTURE GT-AC5300 COMES AS ADVERTISED The product is a tad bit pricey and the games featured need to be updated but its gaming enhancements are definitely visible. Have to admit, a less expensive router would probably yield the same results.
