Available for download, the Morgan Page EMP Toolbox from Waves is a bundle of nine plug-ins geared towards electronic music production, selected by artist and remixing engineer Morgan Page. The bundle includes the H-Delay module, the H-EQ equalizer, two different limiters (one single-band, one multiband), vocal processing such as Maserati VX1 and Vocal Rider, pitch-shifting, and reverb. These plug-ins work on Mac and Windows computers, operating in AU, VST, AAX, RTAS, and the Waves' SoundGrid platform.
H-Delay from Waves is a hybrid delay plug-in that features old school PCM42-style effects like filtering, flanging, and phasing, along with slap-back echo, ping-pong delay, and tempo-sync with modulation. The plug-in has full MIDI support.
An intuitive interface aids in quickly creating an effect using a comprehensive set of controls and includes a tap tempo pad for manually tapping in a tempo. Internal or host-to sync is also available, and the high- and low-pass filters can be linked.
The H-EQ Hybrid Equalizer from Waves is an equalizer plug-in featuring vintage and modern equalizers inspired by the EQ sections found on the finest British and American analog consoles. Each of the seven bands can function with seven different filter types per band, including an asymmetrical bell filter.
The plug-in allows for applying different EQ settings to the mid and side content of an MS signal, and a flexible real-time frequency spectrum analyzer with multiple display options helps visually reinforce the EQ processing. An intuitive keyboard graphic provides the ability to choose center frequencies by clicking on its virtual keys.
The L3-16 Multimaximizer from Waves is a plug-in that performs multi-band peak limiting. The software achieves this by dividing the audio source into sixteen variable bands and utilizing the company's "Peak Limiting Mixer" (PLMixer) engine.
The plug-in uses linear phase crossover filters to divide the audio spectrum, while the PLMixer uses psychoacoustic criteria to decide how much attenuation to apply to each band so that all available headroom is used. The result is that inter-modulation is minimized and overall loudness is maximized, while brick-wall limiting is still maintained.
Maserati VX1 from Waves is an all-in-one vocal processing chain plug-in that features compression, EQ, delay, reverb and three selectable contours that emulate different room ambience. It can be used as an insert or on an auxiliary channel in send mode.
Contour 1 provides a studio or small venue room ambience; contour 2 is a larger chamber with reflective pre-delays, most suited for slow ballads; and contour 3 is set up for quicker tempo songs with a very small room and matching pre-delay.
The plug-in includes both Native and SoundGrid licenses.
NLS from Waves is a modeling plug-in that brings the warm sounds of three, vintage console summing busses, to a DAW. It allows for adding depth, crunch, analog noise, and harmonic distortion to individual tracks, busses, or both. Modeled consoles include an SSL 4000G, EMI TG12345 Mk 4, and a customized 60/92 Neve 5116.
Over thirty channels on each console, plus their master busses were sampled, and different modeled channels can be selected on each of the three consoles, creating a non-linear summing system. Non-linear summing is the natural effect of an analog environment, offering a larger sound, more headroom, and a wider stereo image.
*For TDM use, Accel card required for 96 kHz
SoundShifter from Waves is a three-component plug-in that delivers pitch or time shifting without losing the punch, groove and transients of the original source material. The plug-in allows for changing key, changing tempo, changing duration, and manipulating the time-pitch continuum with accuracy and clarity.
TrueVerb from Waves is a reverb plug-in designed to simulate real acoustic spaces. It combines reverb with an early reflections simulator to create natural-sounding virtual acoustic environments. The software features a flexible graphic interface and a wide range of editing parameters.
Vocal Rider from Waves is a plug-in that automatically rides the levels of vocal tracks during mix-down. This relieves the engineer from having to manually ride a physical mixing console fader, or drawing in each individual level change on a DAW track. The only thing needed is setting the target range of the vocal level in relation to the rest of the mix.
Unlike regular compression, the software adds no additional coloring to the track. The Vocal Rider Live component includes a spill control to differentiate the vocal from background instrumentation and noise, providing for better tracking and performance.
