Extend shooting time and enjoy a more comfortable grip with vertical compositions with the Panasonic DMW-BGG9 Battery Grip for the Lumix DC-G9 mirrorless camera. It holds a DMW-BLF19 battery in addition to the one stored in the camera body, effectively doubling the battery life. Also, it offers a vertical position shutter release button as well as standard control buttons, including a joystick, to make operation much smoother in portrait orientation. Additionally, it is splashproof, dustproof, and freezeproof to 14°F, which matches the durability of the camera.

Accepts one DMW-BLF19 battery pack and works in addition to the battery located inside the camera.
Battery life is improved to approximately 780 images with the monitor and 750 images with the viewfinder. In the Power Save LVF mode this is further increased to 1500 images.
Operation buttons include an on/off switch, shutter button, joystick, AF/AE lock button, white balance button, ISO sensitivity button, exposure compensation button, front dial, and rear dial.
A splash, dust, and freezeproof construction matches that of the camera and ensures proper operation in less-than-ideal conditions within a temperature range of 14 to 104°F.

DMW-BGG9 Battery Grip is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Feel Yes, battery grips can be expensive. But, I have always used one for several reasons not least of which I usually shoot in the portrait orientation. It's a great grip, feels good, controls are in the right place and you've got that extra battery power. It's a must for me and this grip delivers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Compliment to my G-9 I started my photography in the late 1960's and generally speaking I have always liked using a Battery Grip on my Cameras. Even in those early days of SLR's, if one was available (like motorized drives) I'd add it to my kit. The added battery life the Grip offers is great for when I travel. Important note here: Be careful with Third Party Batteries, I've read in many forums that they do not work properly in this grip or in some cases not at all. I know the Panasonic Batteries are much more expensive but hey you own a expensive camera and grip, use a quality battery. Obviously, shooting in Portrait mode the grip makes it so much more comfortable. What is really nice about this grip is Panasonic added extra controls for WB, ISO and Exposure Compensation, AF/AE Lock plus a Control Knob and Joystick which gives youthumb accessible focus point control. So when shooting in Portrait you have all the contorls you need right there. No flipping back to the camera body to make these adjustments.Excellent design on Panasonic's part. The Grip compliments the Camera Body by also having aSplash, Dust, and Freezeproof Design Lastly they also added a metal eyelet where you can attach a camera strap (I've got my Lance Wrist Strap Attached.) The Shutter Release button is not neaerly as sensitive as the one on the camera itself, which for me is good, as I'm still trying to get use to how sensitve the Shutter Release is on the G-9, and from what I'm reading so is everyone else. The only downside to adding a Grip to your camera (and this one is no exception) is you do increase the bulk and weight of the camera but for me the added comfort and features the Grip brings is worth it. Besides, when I don't need the extra continued battery life (I still keep a second battery with me) and if I'm not planning on shooting too much in Portrait Mode it is simple to remove.
