Dracast LED500 overview

  • 1Description

Featuring a slim and lightweight design, the S-Series Plus Bi-Color LED500 Panel with NP-F Battery Plates from Dracast is an ideal choice for location work, interviews and small sets where color accuracy, control and flicker-free output are of major importance. Variable color temperature from 3200K-5600K or anywhere in between means that you can quickly match the prevailing ambient or artificial light balance with a simple twist of a knob while others are still applying filters. Dimming is equally convenient via another knob that adjusts the light intensity from 100-0% with negligible color shift. One of the light's enhancements is Infrared Remote Control whereby you can make color and dimming adjustments to a single master light and other lights in a group will follow suit. The panel also has both color and light intensity presets to make it easy to return to previously used settings. The low electrical draw of just 29W means a timely return on your investment.

The durable aluminum frame is supported by a sturdy, U-shaped yoke with locking knobs on each side and a standard 5/8" receiver. The LED500 can be used worldwide, powered by the included 100-240 VAC adapter or by optional NP-F batteries. Four-way barndoors are provided for contouring and control of the LED500's 45-degree beam angle. A carry case is included.

    Dracast LED500 reviews

    S-Series Plus Bi-Color LED500 Panel with NP-F Battery Plates is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It makes a good hair light on a fast lens... Pros: I think it it build pretty well. I don't think I have a problem with that. I use Sony np-f batteries already so its nice to have a light with that option. I like the bi-color aspect which makes it versatile and simple to use. The power chord is nice and long. The brick is about 10 feet so it shouldn't float if you put the light high unless its more than 10 feet. Cons: The yoke isn't big enough for the light to swivel to point down. The barn doors hit it so it can't really fit that way. The barn doors don't actually do a whole lot. Barn doors are created for spot lights and fresnels that have a smaller point light source. When you have an area light The light spills everywhere. The doors would need to be twice (or more) as long to function like traditional barn doors. And as the title says it is good for a hair light or a fast lens. It isn't that bright in my opinion. Although I did get it on a holiday Dealzone for $110 so for that price I would buy it again. I would like to see what its bigger brothers can do if they go on a great deal maybe I'll get another in the future. (or of Dracast wants to me review them ;) Hope that helps.
