    SanDisk Extreme 600 reviews

1TB Extreme Portable USB 3.1 Type-C External SSD is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great size, speed, one small problem First, the bad: I bought this because my Windows laptop has a USB Type-C port. It wouldn't read this drive through that port, even though it reads other Type-C drives I've used. It is automatically formatted to exFAT, which both Windows and Macs read. I tried it on a Mac with a Thunderbolt port and it worked fine. The good news is it comes with a Type-A adapter, which does work with my Windows. The good: I LOVE the size of this drive. It's small and lightweight, which will make lugging it back and forth for film footage and editing easier than a giant 7200RPM hard drive. And even with the Type-A adapter, this little guy is FAST.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Piece of Hardware This Portable SSD Drive is much smaller than it looks in pictures, it's about the size of a business card and it's light. You can easily slip this into your pocket and not even notice it is there. I purchased this SSD to be able to use Adobe Lightroom on any of my PCs or Laptops. I love this option because I can keep my catalogs and pictures in synch without having to synch them over the web. Using this methodology has also significantly sped up Lightroom because I'm accessing the catalog and pictures from the SSD drive instead of the internal mechanical hard drive at 7200 RPM. The speed improvement is significant. I love this little SSD drive and highly recommend this for any photographers especially for those using Lightroom!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small, fast, wonderful This device is delightful. Not all that much bigger than a thumb drive, but far faster on my USB 3.0 machines. Remarkably faster than a spinning drive. I really like the easy-to-grip finish. I'm glad SanDisk included a simple USB-e to USB-A adapter instead of an additional cable, but I wish the cable was a few inches longer. This minor quibble isn't enough to warrant knocking a star off, since the device itself is outstanding, as was B&H's price. I'm looking forward to using mine for photo backup on the road and various other things.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Review? Why? Just buy it!!! The SanDisk 1TB portable SSD is awesome. It’s extremely fast and the storage capabilities is unparalleled. It’s less than half the size of my iPhone and lighter than a feather. I can take it on trips to download pictures and video from my GoPro, Nikon Camera and Phantom 4 Plus and still have ample space. No more dragging a laptop with me (I use the computers at hotels). Bottom line, but it. You will have zero regrets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Speedy, trouble free - Great flash drive Really liking this drive. No problems so far - great performance and utility. I've had issues with the connector on other SanDisk flash drives but this USB-C connection seems very robust. Love the design - very compact and super stylish. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works fine Works as advertised. Only quibble is it runs hot to the touch I was hoping for improved battery life. I don't have run time numbers but my guess is power use is about the same as my old mechanical external hard drive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Compact and fast One of the reasons I bought this was to get rid of my spindle drive external disk which was draining my laptop battery. The issue is better but not great. Before I would get about 2hours battery time while editing photos now I get about 4hrs. But, because this is much faster I can get more done without having to wait for saving the files especially when they reach 1GB. The drive is very light and 1/4th the size of my previous drive

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is my first external SSD... and it is a good experience so far. I've only used spinning drives thus far and this is definitely an upgrade. It's compact, fast, and feels like it can take a beating as compared to spinning drives. Tip: If you want to reformat this ssd to apples new filing system, APFS, choose "show all devices" in disk utility and choose the parent folder of this drive to erase.
