The Sennheiser EW 122P G4 camera-mount wireless lavalier microphone system features the proven combination of reliability, flexible control, and broadcast-quality sound that has made the EW Series an industry standard for videographers, journalists, and content creators all over the world.

The EW 122P G4 gives you the tools to adapt and meet the wireless challenges that inevitably arise on set. The frequency scan function automatically searches for the cleanest frequency at your location, while the adjustable input sensitivity on the transmitter accommodates mic levels ranging from booming voices to quiet speech, and even line-level audio.

The system includes an ME 4 cardioid lavalier mic, a bodypack transmitter, and a camera-mount receiver. It connects to a camcorder or a DSLR/mirrorless camera to capture crisp-sounding speech or dialog in noisy environments, for projects ranging from documentaries to wedding videos, corporate spots, and hands-free interviews.

The EW 122P G4 is backward-compatible with previous evolution systems, giving you the ability to mix and match G4/G3/G2/G1 receivers or bodypack, handheld, and plug-on transmitters. It is also compatible with EW 500 systems.

Built for Dependable Performance in the Field
  • The EW 122P G4 features rugged, all-metal chassis well suited for extended use on location. The lightweight and compact bodypack transmitter is easy to conceal. Its rounded edges are soft to the touch making it comfortable to wear for the talent. A locking connector ensures that your lav doesn’t detach at a critical moment, while a convenient switch allows you to mute your mic.
  • Using the included shoemount adapter, the equally compact receiver easily mounts on your camera without adding much weight. The included cables allow you to connect the receiver to the 3.5mm or XLR audio input of any DSLR/mirrorless, camcorder, or recording device.
  • Both transmitter and receiver feature LED displays showing reception quality, battery status, and audio level. To get you going quickly, they synchronize via infrared interface, with the simple push of a button.
Proven Broadcast-Quality Sound
  • The EW 122P G4 ships with an ME 4 cardioid lavalier microphone, which delivers a natural sound optimized for speech intelligibility. Its directional cardioid polar pattern helps to reject unwanted background sound, making it ideal in loud environments such as trade-show floors, busy public areas, or sporting events.
  • To take full advantage of the ME 4’s dynamic range, the system employs proprietary HDX compander technology, preserving your sound without adding unwanted noise during transmission, and delivering audio with remarkable accuracy and quality.
Additional Features
  • Adaptive-diversity reception for reliable transmission up to 330'
  • 42 MHz bandwidth with 1680 tunable UHF frequencies for clean reception
  • 20 frequency banks, each with up to 12 factory-preset channels to prevent intermodulation
  • Pilot tone squelch for eliminating RF noise when transmitter is turned off
  • Receiver with adjustable output range of 42 dB to match the audio input of your camera or recording device
  • User-friendly menu operation with flexible control options
  • Transmitter and receiver feature 4-step battery-life indicator
  • Auto-Lock function avoids accidental changing of settings
  • RF Mute function
  • 8 hours of battery life
  • Powered via AA batteries or rechargeable BA 2015 Accupack batteries (available separately)
  • Side contacts for recharging the Accupacks without removing them from either transmitter or receiver—requires the L 2015 quick-charging unit (available separately)
  • Operate up to 12 wireless mics at once on set
  • Unlike digital wireless systems, the SK 100 G4 transmitter can transmit to an unlimited number of EW Series receivers
  • Wide range of accessories adapts the system to a variety of applications

Sennheiser EW 122P G4 Reviews

So far so good!

So far the mic works great. Hooked right up to my camera and the sound quality is excellent. I wish you could hook up two mics to one receiver, but other than that, it's a wonderful mic.

A great reference

A great reference I've been using for year. I bought the omni mic and had a good surprise: they changed the clip for a better one.

Solid directional sound with ample noise reduction for any environment. Easy to set up and test, and easy to monitor with an H4n zoom.

Excellent for noisy spaces

Used this in greenhouses with fans blowing and still got crisp audio (even when subject is masked and not accustomed to wearing lav microphones). Great product, though I have not yet tried the omnidirectional lav of the same make. I will soon!

Hard to control

I purchased the Cardioid Lav system to replace a earlier version of the EW Sennheiser that finally gave out. Setting the sensitivity on this mic and the output is tricky to start out, and it acts as if there is no wind screen, so that plosives (everything from p to h) are annoyingly harsh no matter where I place the mic on a speaker.

Wireless setup is great but..

Sennheiser changed up the lavs. You can no lnher remove the windscreen from the mic head. This lav mc head makes it near impossible to hide. Just get the wireless setup but buy a third party lav that is better suited in changing up the screens on the mc head and being able to hide the lav. Solid wireless unit!

Perfect for my needs.

This is a high quality, pro/consumer grade product. Out of the box, the system is quick to setup and simple to use. Overall, it delivers good value and trouble-free results with flexibility for a wide variety of uses. You might decide to upgrade the included lav mic, but the transmitter and receiver are hard to beat. Yes, I looked at higher-end options at significantly higher prices, but they offered features I would never use, and solutions to specific problems I never encounter. In the end, it became impossible to justify anything more. For my needs, there is nothing better on the market.

Great Quality!

The audio quality is great, I've never run into interference. I lost the mic. clip after 2 years of use, but the system is great and easy to use!

It there and adapter i can buy in which i would be able to power the receiver via an AC adapter? a AA to AC power etc
Asked by: Mountain
No, the Sennheiser SK100 transmitter and EK100 receiver will not work with AC power. They require DC power. Instead of using standard AA batteries, you could get the proprietary Sennheiser BA 2015G2 Rechargeable Battery Pack (B&H # SEBA2015G2) and Sennheiser L2015G2 Charging Station (B&H # SEL2015G2), or use rechargeable AA batteries like the Panasonic eneloop pro AA Rechargeable NiMH Batteries - 1.2V, 2550mAh, 8-Pack (B&H # PA3HCCA8BA).

I currently own the Sennheiser XSW-D lav set and need to upgrade to a system that will allow two mics simultaneously. Will this receiver allow more than one mic at a time and if so will my existing transmitter work with this receiver?
Asked by: Terry
No, the Sennheiser EK 100 G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver included with the Sennheiser EW 122P G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Cardioid Lavalier Microphone System is single-channel and can only be used with one transmitter. Sennheiser does offer any camera-mountable receivers or other EW Series wireless receivers with two channels. You will need to get a second receiver in order to use two transmitters at the same time. If you need to use two mics and have a camera with a single mic input like a DSLR or mirrorless camera, you can use a passive mini mixer such as the Kopul CMX-1-V2 Two-Channel Mini Mixer with Shoe Bracket (B&H # KOCMX1V2) or the Kopul CMCS-1 Passive 3.5mm Microphone Combiner/Splitter (B&H # KOCMCS1) to connect the output from each receiver and then send one signal with the audio from both mics into the camera.
