Leica SF C1 Overview

Dedicated to the Leica SF 60 flash, the SF C1 Remote Control Unit allows you to shoot with wireless freedom as well as fire and control multiple flashes at once using 2.4 GHz radio transmission. This unit has a triggering range of up to 328' and provides eight channels and four groups for creating and wirelessly adjusting multi flash setups.

High-speed sync is supported with a maximum sync speed of 1/8000 sec along with compatibility for slow, 1st & 2nd curtain sync modes. The zoom setting of the flash can also be manually adjusted from 24-200mm, along with output settings and compensation in 1/3 EV values. When switching between manual and TTL control, individual parameters for either mode are saved and remain available for later use. Additionally, three AAA batteries are used as the power source and offer approximately 3000 hours of use.

I am using this on my Leica Q3 to trigger a Leica SF60 flash, pairing was painless, works flawlessly for my usage, which is family photos and weddings.

Crucial for a decent flash setup

I used to shoot with a Canon 1Dx, for which I acquired the equivalent remote control unit and two 680 Ex flashes; I did quite a lot with that setup, from wedding shoots to macro work. When I moved into Leica equipment, I was resigned to relinquishing that capability; but now, with this remote, my SL2-S and two SF-60s, I'm back to par. I can't say I've fully explored the possibilities with the Leica, but the flexibility and power of these compact flashes, and the intuitive working of the remote, all seem very promising. I had a moment of doubt pairing the thing with the flashes, but in the end it worked as intended, so I'm not sure what I'd done wrong at the outset.
