Tenba Axis 24L Overview

The black Axis 24L Backpack from Tenba is modeled after tactical military backpacks and is designed to comfortably and securely carry your mobile photo studio. Its spacious main compartment features an adjustable partition system that holds a DSLR with a 400mm f/2.8 lens, five to seven additional lenses, and a shoe mount flash or a folding drone kit. Users of mirrorless camera systems can fit up to six to nine lenses along with a camera, plus a flash or a folding drone kit, as well as a backup camera.

Complete access to the main compartment is provided by a rear-facing zippered panel with a 180° downward opening, while two additional zippered openings allow items closest to the top and the wearer's left side to be reached. By rotating the Axis 24L Backpack from one's back to front with its left side facing upward, the wearer can open this bag without having to fully remove it. To help maximize the versatility of the Axis 24L Backpack, MOLLE-compatible loops are distributed along the front panel and side opening. These MOLLE-compatible loops allow for the attachment of MOLLE accessory pouches and containers, including separately available Tenba Tools lens capsules, battery pouches, and memory card wallets. Additionally, the MOLLE-compatible loops include reflective stitching that enhances safety by helping to ensure that the wearer remains visible to vehicular traffic under low-light conditions.

The front panel also unzips to reveal multiple organizational pockets and offers capacity for hard drives, a smartphone, pens, notebooks, or a map. The inside of the top zipped opening includes a small pocket for items that need to be accessed quickly and conveniently, such as portable batteries, camera filters, or other small electronics. Along the inside of the rear-zippered panel is the Axis 24L Backpack's 15" laptop sleeve which features a touch-tab retaining strap.

The Axis 24L Backpack can be carried using its built-in top handle, or by its padded shoulder straps which can be adjusted upward or downward for a better fit. For heavy loads, this backpack's removable waist belt transfers weight to the hips for additional comfort, while the sternum strap further limits unintentional shifting around the wearer. Along the front of the Axis 24L Backpack are two MOLLE-compatible compression straps that can each hold and secure a tripod, monopod, or trekking pole; while a large side pocket along the wearer's right side can accommodate a water bottle or another similarly sized item.

Built to be weather resistant, the Axis 24L Backpack also includes a seam-sealed cover for use under heavy rain.

Tenba Axis 24L Reviews

Excellent Backpack

Tenba really put some thought into this bag when designing it. This is the first backpack I've had that accommodates a battery grip. There is plenty of room to accommodate the essentials. It is very built and I am confident the my camera equipment is protected. My only complaint with this backpack is the top grab handle. I wish it was thicker. Other than that, it is an excellent backpack.

Almost checks all the boxes

initial impression is that i shoukdve went with the 32L as it looks similar in size to other bags. The interior has more room than seems due to outside pockets rather than inside the bag itself. Plenty of padding, protected well in the rain. My biggest complaint has to be the handle on top. Not comfortable to carry with, very thin and no padding. Luckily rarely use it other than to put in table or in trunk.

So glad I bought this bag

I did a lot of research before buying my next camera backpack, I mean A LOT. I looked at all the brands, watched hours of youtube videos and scoured through a ton of reviews. I compared all the options and settled on the 24L Tenba Axis. And I am so glad I did. It is perfect for my needs. It fits all my gear, everything is accessible, it is so comfortable to wear, it is very durable and it is discreet. My kit that fits in the main compartment is as follows: * 2x Canon 5DMKIV * Canon 35mm L * Canon 50mm L * Canon 85mm L * Canon 135mm L * Canon 24-70mm L * Canon 100mm * Canon 16-35mm L * Canon Speedlite 580EX II * 2x CF & SD card pouches I can then fit my 15 Macbook perfectly in the dedicated pouch. And in the front pocket I can fit my lens pen, rechargeable batteries and charger, 10,000mAh Powerbank and other little things like business cards. I'm really happy with my purchase and I'm sure you would be too!

This bag is fabulously modifiable in its construction allowing me to change my set up easily. The weather shell provides protection with the tough surface to make a really weatherproof case. I keep my professional equipment in this thing and would trust it with more!

great Tenba quality

Overall, I like this bag very much. I have been using a Cinebags CB25, which was just too bulky and cumbersome. The Tenba Axis 24L actually carries a bit more gear yet the outside dimensions are smaller than the CB25. This is due to slimmer (but adequate) padding in the dividers and having less compartments and pockets. The Axis 24L is also lighter by more than 1 pound. We all know there is no perfect camera bag, but this one fits my needs quite well. Pros: The side access pocket accommodates my Panasonic S1H camera, for relatively quick deployment by sliding the bag off one shoulder. The removable waist belt is great, as sometimes I don't want it, and sometimes I do. The molley system allows me to add inexpensive compartments to expand the bag, but keep it slim when I don't want them. The adjustable shoulder straps help to customize the fit. The bag will stand upright on it's own. Bag size should comply with most airline overhead compartment limits. Cons: A few more pockets for small items could have been included without changing the size or shape of the bag. The edges of the shoulder straps are a bit stiff, but they may soften with use. No locking zipper tabs. Tripod straps are difficult to remove and reposition, and there is no middle buckle.

Good Backpack

There is no perfect backpack. But the Tenba Axis 24L is better than all I've researched (a LOT). It features a few things missing in the competition, like a large hard flat bottom enabling the bag to stay upright, very adjustable main straps and sinch straps attached to the top of the bag that attach to the main straps-missing useful feature in almost all other bags. My cameras can be put in with the handgrips up towards the back of the bag instead of laying flat. It has the main compartment up against your back, great for stopping easy access from thieves but still has top and side access. I'm thinking of gluing the top zipper closed because I don't plan on ever using it. I'm glad I got this bag. You can swing it to your front without taking it off fully to access the side zippered section but it is not very smooth and fast-still useable though and better to have the option than not! One of my must-have features is being able to carry it on a plane with no problems.

Good, but missing some key features

The backpack is spacious and great. Fits perfectly under an airplane seat. Protection inside is good too. Some drawbacks: 1. No side straps for tripod support 2. The tripod pouch is at the base of the bag, so when you fit your tripod in, the bag's at an angle. Also the pouch is tight fit 3. The straps provided are not east to work with 4. There's no way to attach your tripod to either side of the backpack. I personally do not prefer the tripod on the back of the bag as it offsets the centre of mass by quite a bit.

Nice looking and well made bag. Fit two bodies with lenses attached, and an additional 4 lenses and accessories. I particularly like the top access to pull the camera out quickly. Happy so far with it.

Yes, it might take up the entire space though. Fits with a full main compartment and 16" MacBook Pro but probably won't fit if you fill the smaller outer pocket as well.
