From Manufacturer

The Fujinon MK50-135mm T2.9 Lens is a lightweight cine-style zoom lens for MFT mount cameras with a Super 35mm-sized sensor. It features a mechanical design with three independent lens control rings: focus, iris, and zoom. Each ring incorporates a cine-style gear with a 0.8 MOD for interfacing with standard cine-style lens accessories. The focus ring features approximately 200° of rotation, which provides room for precise focus pulls, and the iris is clickless, enabling smooth iris pulls. The lens also incorporates a macro mode for close focusing capabilities.

The lens is color matched to other Fujinon lenses such as the HK, ZK, and XK series, which enables smooth intercutting between lenses. The 85mm front enables use with many cine-style matte boxes via use of optional step-up rings (rings not included). The lens weighs only 2.16 pounds, which is fairly light for a cinema zoom that holds focus and aperture throughout the focal length range. It is designed for camera's with an MFT mount, so it has a short flange focal distance, but the lens allows flange focal distance adjustment so you can fine-tune it to the camera you are using the lens on.

T2.9 to T22 aperture with nine iris blades for attractive bokeh
The 28.5mm diameter image circle covers the 3-perf Super 35 format with a 16:9 aspect ratio
Industry standard 0.8 film pitch gears for focus, zoom, and iris control
The gear rings positions for focus, zoom, and iris are located at the same position on lenses in the MK series, making switching between the zooms quick as you don't have to adjust the position of lens accessories
Lenses in the MK series have the same weight and length so there is no need to rebalance your camera when you change from one lens to the other
200° focus barrel rotation
No shims are required to adjust the flange focal distance as this lens has a built-in adjustment mechanism
Macro focus function available

As good as top-shelf photo primes

I'm a life long photographer, but I'm new to video. In the world of photography I was a firm believer in only using the best primes - Zeiss and Schneider. There's no way I'd ever consider a zoom. Having just purchased a RED Komodo, I wasn't in a place to buy a full set of cine primes. After months of agonizing over my options, I purchased this lens and the matching 18-55. Wanting to get a feel for the quality differences, I tested all my still-primes against the pair of FUJIs. I used a Zeiss back-focus target and tested all the lenses at f5.6 under controlled lighting. I exported frames from Premier Pro after applying a standard DCI LUT. I'm not an expert at optics and I'm still trying to get my head around R3D (RED's raw format) and LUTs, so all I can give is my subjective opinion, which is ... Shockingly, the FUJI zooms looked as good as or better than the primes! It seems to me that the 50-135 did just a little bit better than the 18-55, but it really comes down to splitting hairs. While I could still use by photo-primes (because I'm old-school like that), the zooms give me (obviously) more flexibility. These cine-lenses have a number of other advantages over my ZEs and Schneider PC/TS lenses: No focus breathing. Some of my primes have a noticeable shift in focal length when when changing focus. Then lens bodies don't move when zooming or focusing. There's no way to use a follow focus on my ZE 135 Sonnar, for example. Marking are on the side of the lens not the top, which makes follow focus much easier. In addition, the FUJI lenses are parfocal, which is super nice. Plus they have a facility for Macro that I haven't yet explored. Because these lenses are native RF (thanks to the smart folks at Duclos), you don't even need an adapter!

Unbelievable

What is the equivalent focal length of this lens ...

What is the equivalent focal length of this lens in 35mm terms. Is it 100-270mm or something else?
Asked by: W. Bill
This is going to depend on the size of the sensor you're using, and how the specific camera utilizes that sensor. If you use it on a GH5 (crop factor 2.0), it will be 100-270. If you're using it on a BMPCC4K (crop factor 1.9), it will be approx 95-256. If you use it with a Super 35 sensor, the answer given by Dennis is likely correct. Note that the lens also has built-in flange distance adjustment to accommodate different cameras. If you change the flange distance, you're also effectively changing the crop factor to some degree.

Will this lens and its 18-55 counterpart mount on a Sony A7 III?
Asked by: Clarke
Theoretically, yes, as both are the Sony E mounts. However, due to the weight of the MK series lenses, you risk breaking the camera-side mount, unless you have a release plate, hunt cage, or other rig to use a pair of support rods and a lens support bridge (both not included with lens).
