The Shinobi 5.2" 4K HDMI Monitor is a 5.2" on-camera monitor that monitors DCI 4K, UHD 4K, and HD video input. It features a 10-bit FRC IPS screen with a brightness of 1000 cd/m², which makes it suitable for use in both exterior and interior conditions. The AtomHDR display technology allows you to accurately monitor your log gamma footage without having to view flat, washed-out looking images or use a LUT to compress the dynamic range and color space. The monitor supports popular log formats from Sony, Canon, Panasonic, ARRI, RED, and JVC cameras.

Built to withstand the rigors of production, the Shinobi features a lightweight plastic chassis and powers from a single L-series battery. Additional features include a variety of onscreen exposure analysis, framing, and focus assist tools, as well as anamorphic de-squeeze. A 12V power supply with L-series battery eliminator is included with the unit.

AtomHDR

With AtomHDR you can monitor up to ten stops of dynamic range of your camera's LOG image. Most conventional monitors can only display six or seven stops, which is fine for standard footage; but a Log image will look overly flat. It is also superior to monitoring with a loaded LUT, which can clip the highlights and mask shadows.

5.2" Daylight Viewable Screen

The Shinobi features a 5.2" IPS LCD screen that is illuminated by a bright 1000 cd/m² LED backlight, making it possible to view in daylight without requiring a hood. Plus, the screen is also color calibrated from the factory to ensure accurate image representation.

HDR Signal Management

Log and HDR signals can be difficult to monitor with conventional equipment. Though, with the Shinobi's built-in HDR signal management functions, the log signal can be converted to the PQ standard for compatibility with existing consumer and professional HDR equipment.

The Shinobi supports Anamorphic de-squeeze, allowing you to comfortably view anamorphic footage with a squeeze of 2x, 1.5x, 1.33, and Panasonic's 8:3.

whats the easiest way to power this monitor ...

whats the easiest way to power this monitor without batteries? (on the run)
Asked by: Mateo
The easiest way to power the Shinobi is with an NP-F battery. Other methods involve additional expense, weight, & bulk. You could download the user manual and look at the power options (on page 4). There is a DC to D-Tap option that can work with the Shinobi's Battery Eliminator. There are 3rd-party D-Tap to dummy NP-F battery products also, though I've never tried them. Using D-Tap means finding a way to mount the source battery. Maybe that's not an issue if you use a rig. But if you don't want to be conspicuous in your run-and-gun operation, I think you're best served by using an NP-F battery on the back of the Shinobi.

Using this with my canon 6D, screen isn’t full and the image it shows isn’t even clear. Any ideas?
Asked by: Brenden
The Canon 6D does not have a Clean HDMI output that sends out a full HD signal. This is simply a limitation of the camera.

Is it possible to have both the Atomos Shinobi ...

Is it possible to have both the Atomos Shinobi screen display and the Canon EOS RP LCD display on at the same time? When I plug in an HDMI Cable to the Atomos Shinobi and Canon EOS RP, the Canon LCD screen goes black.
Asked by: Benjamin
I bought thiss for stills and it seems to be an issue, with the screen going black in still mode. Works in movie mode, but also having issues with playback in both modes. Touch focus is also disabled in stills without the canon screen showing rendering it hard to use.
