Wacom Intuos Pro Reviews

Much improved over the previous version

I opted for the small tablet to replace my medium Wacom. The smaller footprint is much appreciated as is the shorter distance my hand needs to travel to get from top to bottom. The higher resolution is also very evident to me when I am adjusting sliders in both Lightroom and Photoshop-much more precise.

nibs wear off too quickly

I upgraded from an Intuos3 tablet of similar size and this IntuosPro feels more refined. The quality of manufacturing and parts used looks better. The wireless functionality could be a plus but so far I haven't had the need to use the tablet that way. The nibs wear off too quickly and it will get more annoying than expensive to having to replace them all the time. This tablet came bundled with the 1-year CC photography plan subscription which is a plus.

A worthy product, maybe a bit overhyped

The few basic shortcomings of this tablet are somewhat baffling, considering how long Wacom has been in this business. The pen is thicker than typical art pens, an adjustment for many artists. For some reason, the pen does not fit well in the holder and my generic pen rest work better. The lack of attention to detail is evident throughout the design of the tablet, software, and in its performance. Nibs are designed to be replaced after rubbing on the rough tablet surface. Nib life (and tablet life) can be extended by securing a smooth surface like paper or mylar. As far as tablets go, Wacom has no serious competition that I can recommend. The downside to this is the lack of innovation and refinement in their product. The user guide is outdated, meaning that crucial steps are left out or work differently than the current model. Nonetheless, through trial and error and research, you'll get through installation and setup, as well as adapt to the few shortcomings.

Middle Click Workaround

For those also wanting to middle click when using the touchpad, you can assign 3 finger tap to a keystroke or keystroke combo and then use autohotkey to map that keystroke to the middle mouse button. This should be built in to the wacom software, but anyway it works.

Touchy, missing functionality

Maybe it will just take time to get used to it, but using the pen with it is a bit touchy sometimes and then other times not doing anything when you think you're pressing properly. Also, there is no way to middle click when using it as a touchpad. This is a basic function that any Windows laptop touchpad can do.

A great basic tablet

I used to have an older version of the intuos about 10 years ago, then graduated to a big cintiq, but after a few years of working on the cintiq realized that I actually preferred the intuos! I like to look at the screen of my mac while I work. I'm using it in photoshop for painting. Love the size of the medium. Very happy with it. B & H delivered quickly.

Perfect size

I got the small and it's perfect. This replaces my Intuos Pro 4 medium, which wasn't wireless. So this is my first wireless Wacom and it's great to be able to sit back in my chair and edit with the tablet on my lap. And it's easy to take the tablet and switch from my desktop to my laptop. The small size tablet is super convenient for mouse mode mapping of the pen. I couldn't be happier with this product.
