Bundled by B&H for your convenience, the Focusrite Scarlett Recording Kit includes almost everything you need to get started recording speech, vocals, and instruments. First, the kit provides the Scarlett 2i2 USB interface, which gives you two inputs for your microphones and offers pro-quality preamps for a pristine signal. In fact, Generation 3 of the Scarlett Series gives you an Air setting that lifts the trebles a bit which adds brightness and clarity. Use this setting if your voice is sounding a bit on the dull side.
Next, you’ll note the Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid Condenser Microphone, which is well suited for recording the spoken word. Also included are a tripod mic stand with a fixed boom arm, as well as a gooseneck nylon pop filter and an XLR mic cable. The gooseneck nylon pop filter can be used to reduce plosives in vocal performances, and it attaches to the included tripod mic stand. An XLR cable allows you to connect your microphone to the Scarlett 2i2.
The kit also gives you a pair of over-ear, closed-back headphones. Use these headphones to monitor your voice while ensuring there's no bleed from your headphones into the mic, thanks to their closed-back construction.
With the interface, microphone, cable, stand, pop filter, and headphones, you'll have almost everything you need to get started recording, all you need to bring to the table is your own computer.
