A parfocal cine lens, the DZO 10-24mm T2.9 MFT Lens from DZOFilm is designed to maintain focus as you zoom in or out. Although parfocal lenses can have some small focus changes, the amount is minimal and you can keep overall focus consistency throughout the zoom range.

In addition to this, the lens has near-zero breathing, ensuring consistency in framing, and it provides rounded highlights thanks to a 12-blade iris. True to its cine design, it has a focus rotation of 270° and offers 26 focus marks along the range. Also, back focus adjustment of 19.2mm in small increments allows you to efficiently switch this lens between different MFT-mount cameras. The lens has a durable all-metal housing.

Solid, not perfect

Great construction and focal range. Found it trickier to focus with than other cine-style lenses I've used for MFT—the ring wasn't anywhere near as intuitive as I'd hoped. I'd rather use the Voigtlander 10.5, 17.5 and 25 without hesitation.

This lens is built like a tank! It is heavy in hand, and made soundly. I have no question that it will last a generation. Optically it does everything it says it does. It is properly parfocal, and focus breathing is minimal. The captured image very clear without being clinically sharp, which is a very good thing. The range on a MFT is well suited for your establishing to medium shots. Would serve well as an interview lens with it's 35mm equivalent 48mm end length. The ring gears are cut perfectly and mesh well with my pre-existing rig. There are some problems though. One that's just frustratingly bad and another that's more of a quibble. The quibble. That at the end of of a ring movement, the resistance changes slightly, like it stops being smoothly lubricated and is more metal on metal. No noise, no grinding, but it does feel like if the ring were to go any further that it would be grinding. The frustrating problem. When using a filter, sized for the front filter thread of 77mm, you can see the filter ring when at 10mm. In my case, using a 77mm B+W MRC Variable ND, I was able to see the filter ring from 10-13mm. Even my lower profile UV filters can be seen causing vignetting at 10mm. They simply messed up. They should have flared out the lens ring to 82mm or shortened the lip. In my opinion, it's a large oversight. DZO should at the very least include a step up ring. This particular oversight means I must buy another VND/Step up ring setup, which will be about $300 more out of pocket as the B+W 82mm VND's are $110 more than the 77mm model. So, if you're picking this up and some filters to go in front of it, make sure you go with 82mm filters, not B&H's recommended 77mm.

Yes, a 2x crop factor is applied to the micro-four-thirds sensor and this lens.

Does the weight of this lens need additional front end lens support to reduce the strain on a GH5 M4/3 lens mount?

This lens weights as much as Olympus 100-400 mm , I do not think it will harm the lens mount , but it will not heart if you use a lens support

The recommended minimal wide-angle focal length that could be used on the Mirage VND without any vignette will be 35mm on a full-frame sensor.

The DZOFilm DZO 10-24mm T2.9 MFT Parfocal Cine Lens if used with a 77mm filter will produce vignette. The manufacture lists the lens as not having a filter thread.
