Panasonic DP-UB420 Overview

View HDR, 4K UHD, and 3D content on your compatible display with the Panasonic DP-UB420 HDR 4K UHD Network Blu-ray Player. It features two USB ports that allow you to connect peripherals such as a thumb drive or HDD for easy playback of a variety of file types. Additionally, the player can wirelessly stream video content from your smart device to your display.

The DP-UB420 is compatible with a variety of video and audio formats, such as AVCHD, MP3, FLAC, and more. It supports high-resolution audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio for a dynamic surround sound experience with your compatible home theater setup. Additionally, you can control the Blu-ray player with your voice through your compatible Alexa or Google smart speaker.

HCX (Hollywood Cinema Experience) Processor
The HCX Processor helps provide precise colors and HDR reproduction for an enhanced viewing experience.
4K Video with HDR Support
The DP-UB420 supports HDR10, which is the standard HDR format for films and UHD Blu-ray discs. It also supports the HDR10+ and Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) formats.
HDR Optimizer
The HDR Optimizer uses image processing technologies to augment HDR images. Tone mapping is used to adjust the brightness level of the content. It also enhances TV footage that's not encoded or recorded in HDR.
Works with Alexa and the Google Assistant
You can control the DP-UB420 with your Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant devices. A variety of operations, including play, pause, fast forward, and more can be activated with just your voice.
4K Chroma Processor
4K 4:2:0 image color signals are interpolated into 4K 4:4:4 by a multi-tap chroma process to help provide natural textures and depth.
Studio Master Sound with High-Res Quality
The DP-UB420 supports WAV, FLAC, MP3, AAC, WMA, and AIFF formats, as well as ALAC and DSD (11.2/2.8/5.6 MHz) music files. Connect to your home audio system to enjoy music sources equivalent to studio master sound quality.
4K VOD Streaming
Enjoy 4K internet video from YouTube and Netflix (with compatible content).
Integrated Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi 5 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) connectivity enables wireless connection to your network.

Easy to set up - connected to 4K TV - beautiful picture - sound is great - Remote control takes a little getting used to - still haven't been able to get slow forward/back Unit pages forward segment at a time - overall - 9 out of 10 stars !

4K or not? How do I know if it is playing back at ...

4K or not? How do I know if it is playing back at 4K? When inserting 4k disc a line appears that says HDR and a box with three rows says UHD Blu-ray (top row), Play or Pause (middle row) and 4K (bottom row). The Blu-ray box seems to be highlighted. Shouldn't the 4k row be highlighted? I think I have the settings correct for it to automatically choose.

In order for the Panasonic DP-UB420 HDR 4K UHD Network Blu-ray Player to play 4K, you will need to connect it to a 4K compatible TV.
