Compact and lightweight, the AG-CX10 shoots and records UHD 4K at broadcast-compatible frame rates, so it fits smoothly into your existing broadcast workflow. The AG-CX10 features a 1/2.5" 8.29M MOS sensor that is always shooting at 4K resolution, the Venus processing engine to scale the 4K image for Full HD delivery, and both 3G-SDI and HDMI outputs. Audio is recorded in up to 24-bit PCM via the built-in microphone. Additionally, with an optional NDI|HX license, it supports a full IP workflow including streaming via its Ethernet port.

The built-in Leica Dicomar lens features a 24x zoom with its widest angle at 25mm, and it uses the digital iZoom feature to zoom up to 48x. The Face Detection AF feature allows you to track faces and automatically adjusts focus on your subject. It also features manual control rings, a control dial, and a 5-axis optical image stabilization to keep your shots steady. The 3.5" fold-out LCD features a high-resolution touchscreen. The camera records in .mp4, .mov, and AVCHD codecs and features HEVC compression. The camera incorporates two SD card slots, allowing you to use both relay and simultaneous recording. The camera also supports live streaming over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi via RTP/RTSP/RTMP/RTMPS streams.

The VW-HU1 removable top handle unit is included, which provides two 3-pin XLR inputs that can be switched between mic, line, and +48V phantom power, and feature individual volume control knobs. A built-in LED light on the front of the unit allows you to illuminate your subject with a soft, diffused light and it also features dimming. A microphone holder is also attached to hold a standard shotgun mic, and the handle also features a shoe mount and mounting thread for additional accessories.

IP Workflow

The AG-CX10 includes advanced IP networking features, such as built-in Wi-Fi support for HD live streaming to YouTube, Facebook, and other social sites via RTMP/RTMPS/RTSP protocols. In addition, the AG-CX10 includes an Ethernet connection for streaming and an NDI|HX connectivity for use in live production, as well as ROP tablet-based control. Please note that NDI|HX functionality requires an optional license.

Recording Options

The camera supports a variety of high-quality recording options using the Venus engine, including 4:2:2 10-bit internal recording with a maximum 29.97p in UHD, and a maximum 59.94p in FHD. When recording in 10-bit, the camcorder delivers 4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit HDMI output. It also supports HEVC recording (LongGOP/10-bit 4:2:0/MOV) at 59.94p with a bit rate of 200 Mb/s. In addition to MOV, MP4, and AVCHD, the AG-CX10 also supports P2 MXF for broadcast stations, with AVC-LongG support, plus AVC-Intra100/50 support planned via a future firmware update. Dual SD card slots support relay recording for virtually limitless record times.

Please note that P2 recording requires microP2 cards.

Lens

The wide-angle 24x optical lens offers a zoom range of 25 to 600mm (35mm-equivalent), and it features 32x iZoom in 4K and 48x iZoom in HD. Panasonic's exclusive high-precision AF also provides high-speed, accurate focusing for both 4K and Full HD shooting.

Manual Features

The AG-CX10 features two manual lens control rings, one for focus and the second switchable between zoom and iris. The two rings are different sizes, allowing you to identify each ring by feel so you don't have to look away from the shot to confirm you are using the correct ring. An integrated ND wheel enables rapidly, switching between clear, 2-stop, 4-stop, and 6-stop NDs. The removable top handle incorporates two 3-pin XLR audio inputs and a built-in LED video light.

Audio Recording

The top handle supports +48V phantom power/mic/line selectable XLR audio input with manual volume control for each of the two channels. Also supported is a 24-bit linear PCM system (MOV/P2 MXF), 16-bit AAC (MP4), or Dolby Audio system (AVCHD) high-quality 2-channel audio recording.

Super Slow Motion

FHD mode enables slow-motion recording at up to 120 fps (for 59.94 Hz)/100 fps (for 50 Hz). And 10-bit recording is supported, for full-frame images with no crop and autofocus active.

Image Stabilization

For both UHD and FHD modes, in addition to Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.), the camera also features Electronic Image Stabilization which operates to detect and correct handshake in five axes, including rotational blurring. The Ball O.I.S. System reduces friction on the drive section, achieving delicate correction even for small-amplitude handshake at all focal lengths.

High-Speed AF and Face Detection AF/AE

Face Detection AF/AE provides precise focusing while compensating the exposure for subjects, and together with the camera's precise focus lens drive achieves rapid focusing speed, stability, and tracking performance in both 4K and Full HD. In addition, subject tracking with color recognition can be activated on the LCD panel.

Panasonic AG-CX10 Reviews

I'm liking this camera more then I thought I would

I bought this camera for a specific project that is outdoors in bright sunlight. As this is a remote camera for me I needed something as easy to use as possible for my novice operator. They are able to throw it up on a tripod and get me the footage I need. The built-in ND filters work great most of the time It is on 1/16. I was a bit underwhelmed with the color I was getting straight out of the camera. Once I brought it into my editor I do some minor color tweaks and it gives me decent colors. I can't comment on the AG-CX10s Low light performance as it's not something I use this camera for. Personally, for low light, I would probably look at some other options with a larger sensor.

A great All Purpose Camera

Are use this camera very very often and it always provides a great picture. It’s absolutely great for interviews. Love the XLR jacks That allow me too run a wireless microphone or wired microphone. Sound adjustment on the physical camera is very user-friendly. Even the internal mic, when connecting a shotgun mic, picks up sound in good quality. And of course, it’s great around the house with the kids. Very light body, and easy to pick up on the go. My only suggestion for anyone that is using this camera for interviews is to be sure to light the room. This camera doesn’t do a great job of absorbing light like you’d see with a DSLR. But when you light the room, this camera is as good as any. I just wish I had a few others!

Compact and automated enough for closeup interviews as well as long shots in church sanctuaries. System occasionally throws an error and stops recording. Restarting camera clears the error.

It's OK. You DO NOT get NDI out of the box though

Quality is OK to good inside (that small sensor shows). Having to spend another $300 to get NDI capabilities, however, is a bad move for Panasonic. At this price, it should be included. We were going to buy several of these for our public access TV station but, no more. Too expensive for what you're actually getting. Much better options with similar quality/NDI capabilities out there.

Shattering dreams quickly

This review might be a bit premature, but right out of the gate this is a very remorseful buy for me. I wanted a new camcorder that did Live Streaming and due to the lack of stock of competitive brands, I went with this Panasonic. The menu interface takes a bit to get used to, and after watching a couple YouTube videos (not very many to help you), I tried a Live Stream through my YouTube account. 1. My up to date iPhone set to hotspot will not connect to the built in WIFI on the camcorder. THIS IS A MUST for me. I plan on using this camcorder at weddings to live stream ceremonies. If I can't connect to my phone, this purchase is a huge waste of money for me. 2. It connects to my home wifi router just fine. 3. I downloaded that horrible HC ROP app to try and connect to my camcorder for remote access. I followed the steps to create a user name profile and password on the AG-CX10 and then input the same info on the app, with no connection. An added step to find the network settings with IP address and gateway, blah blah blah... Still doesn't connect. WHY CANT IT BE SIMPLE? It's new technology. Where's the QR code or other simple setup for the two state of the art technologies to talk to each other without manual inputs?! 4. I still want to try a live stream so I use my home wifi connection to set it up. I get the YouTube rtmp:// link and am ready to input my Stream Key and there isn't an option I can find in the NetworkStreaming menu The only online tutorial is made by Panasonic with no narration, and shows a copy/paste method of the streaming info being put onto the SD card. The clip is cropped so you can't see the software entirely and it's not coming from a Apple product (Mac) So now that I actually need a manual input, I don't have the option apparently (or I just can't find it which is frustrating because I'm not a noob). The only saving grace is that I can get my phone to connect and live stream. If I can't make this happen, I'm going to be LIVID.

Excellent All Around Camera

At the outset, I'll say I am a longtime Panasonic user, but if a camera didn't work, I'd say so. Recently purchased a Panasonic AW-UE4KG for our church but soon realized it was trash. The CX10 though is a very good camcorder for most users shooting sports, recitals, weddings and corporate work. It's a worthy successor to the Panasonic HMC150, a workhorse of a camera if there ever was one. I still have two and will continue to use them as needed. The CX10 has so many improvements over the HMC150 - two card slots with relay recording or backup, 24X optical zoom - a much needed upgrade - and smaller, lighter and more capable. Built-in wifi or ethernet capabilities make the CX10 far more ready to work in today's video environment. The one annoyance I have with Panasonic's design is the elimination of the two-wire LANC system. It's a feature on the HMC150 to be able to adjust focus and iris with a fingertip but for whatever convoluted reasoning they used, it's been eliminated and replaced by a smart phone app. Come on Panasonic, how about a choice? I often see reviews that such and such a camera is no good in low light but they never define what low light is. I've shot some outdoor evening footage and it looks great. I don't shoot weddings so maybe in a dark reception hall it might not be the best, but maybe the videographer should be using a DSLR. Using the right camera for a given job is part of being a professional. The CX10 is an excellent capable ENG-style camera that I hope will serve me for as many years as my HMC150s. Personally I think any videographer that has used camcorders will be comfortable with this offering.

Not great in low light

Bought the AG-CX10 because I couldn't find a CX350 anywhere. I needed a new camera because my CX350 was being repaired (Dropped). The CX10 just didn't do well in low light. I'm a stringer for a local news station in Phila. and most of my assignments are at night. I brought it back after I used it on a couple of jobs. Looks like it would do well with a lighted scene but not in low light situations.

Use only with bright lighting

Has lot of good features and good color, however you need above average light levels for this small chip to preform. Also the wifi is not very strong and in one location I could not get it connect to YouTube no matter what I did. On other locations is connect fine. Hold out and get the big brother CX-350 which competes well against Sony NX 80 and Z90 with low to average lighting.

Currently the manufacture lists that a 5,900mAh battery comes with the camera as well as a wall power adapter and power cord. A charger is not provided in the box but cameras configured like this have the ability to charge the battery in the camera body when connecting the power supply provided to the wall. The CX10 offers a few different things not found in the HC-X2000. The CX10 has NDI/HX support with an additional license code, BH #NEPPTZHXUCC. You can use microP2 cards with the CX10. It also adds a hardwire LAN connection, which some customers prefer for signal stability. It supports P2 MXF codecs, including AVC LongG and AVC Intra. Finally, the CX10 has PTZ Virtual USB Driver support.
