COMPATBLE WITH SONY FX3

Works well, but lacks a key feature

The GP-VPT2BT works well but lacks a key feature of its predecessor, the GP-VPT1. The GP-VPT1 included a wrist strap and a place to attach it. This new model, the GP-VPT2BT, does not.

Nice upgrade from my old VCT-SGR1

I have the Sony RXOii and when I first bought the camera I also purchased the VCT-SGR1 grip. The problem with that grip is you had to plug the cable on the grip into the camera. This grip is nicely made and has a nice heft to it. It took me a few tries to pare it with my camera, but I finally had a connection. Just for the convenience of not having to plug the cable into the camera is worth to upgrade. Highly recommended this grip for any compatible Sony camera.

Great, full-featured grip!

I love the feel and weight of this grip, and it pairs perfectly with the ZV-1. But I also find myself using it as a remote to start and stop my videos while the camera is on the tripod. It is just terrific and I highly recommend it!

What, if anything, does the zoom control do when used with the a7c?
Asked by: James
You would need a lens with built-in Power Zoom capabilities in order to use the zoom feature on the Sony GP-VPT2BT Wireless Shooting Grip with the Sony Alpha α7C Mirrorless Digital Camera. Otherwise, when using a lens that requires you to manually zoom the lens, the zoom control would have no effect. The only E-mount lenses with built-in Power Zoom capability would be the Sony E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens, B&H # SO165035, the Sony E PZ 18-105mm f/4 G OSS Lens, B&H # SO181054, or the Sony E PZ 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Lens, B&H # SO18200PZ, all which are designed for the smaller APS-C sensor, and would not fully cover a full-frame sensor. As such, you would have to use the APS-C Crop Mode feature in the camera when using the above lenses. The only Power Zoom lens for the full-frame sensor would be the Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens, B&H # SO281354, which is a cinema lens.

If I don’t use my camera, say for about a month or so, will it lose the Bluetooth connection? Then having to reconnect it again?
Asked by: Anthony
They should keep the connection registered in the camera so you shouldn't have to reconnect it, however if you need to it is a very easy process.
