Covering a useful and familiar range with a svelte form factor, the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-45mm f/4 PRO is a 24-90mm-equivalent zoom for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. Distinguished by its f/4 constant maximum aperture, this lens strikes a balance between a bright design and a highly compact design to suit its use in everyday situations. Myriad specialized elements are incorporated into the optical design, which help to suppress spherical aberrations, color fringing, and distortion in order to produce sharp, color-accurate imagery. A ZERO coating is also featured, which controls flare and ghosting for improved contrast when working in bright and backlit conditions. Complementing the optics is a Movie & Still Compatible autofocus system, which achieves fast, smooth, and silent focusing performance, and a maximum 0.25x magnification throughout the zoom range to suit working with close-up subjects. Additionally, the lens is weather-sealed to enable its use in trying weather conditions.

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-45mm f/4 PRO Reviews
Fantastic
I upgraded from a Lumix 12-44 (which I also liked) to this Oly 12-45 Pro. This is my absolute favorite everyday lens.
Does the job.
Compact but well-built lens. Produces very sharp images. Love it.
A Very Handy Little Lens
In a world full of big, expensive new lenses, this little 24mm to 90mm equivalent f/4 lens stands out as a relatively inexpensive, versatile alternative, great for vacation, street and family photography. It's sharp, compact, and well made. And today, when cameras take decent quality photos with incredibly high ISO's and have in-camera stabilization, the whole f/4 thing doesn't matter as much as it used to. It's not big and heavy, so people on the street don't care as much if they see you taking their photo. It's a very handy little lens.
Perfect every day lens for M5.2.
I think the best aspect of this lens is the very low flare. I don't have all the Oly primes in this range but for sharpness and low flare at f4 this is a very good lens. Hopefully the 8-25 f4 will be this good.
Highly recommended
This is a great lens. Lightweight, and pin sharp at f 4, 5.6. F8 is also very acceptable at all focal lengths. I like the close up capability.
Good to have in kit, but do you really need it?
This is a niche lens, with tradeoffs, situated between the Olympus 12-40 f/2.8 PRO and the Olympus 12-100 f/4 PRO. It provides just a bit more range for portraiture than the 12-40 (90mm equivalent in 35-mm terms, vs. 80mm equivalent on the 12-40), but you lose a stop in speed and low-light capability, and there is no manual-focus clutch -- a cool Olympus gimmick that I have come to like for quick change from AF. The 12-100 also is f/4 but has OIS and a clutch. The 12-45 is lighter than the other two lenses, however, so weight and relative simplicity would be the benefits. If you already have the other lenses (as I did), there's no real need to spend the bucks for this one. If you're deciding between the 3 of them, your habits and needs should dictate which one you buy. The 12-100 definitely is best for travel.
Very nice...
I have been using Sigma Art lenses and Nikon D610. Decided to go smaller and lighter. Got the Olympus OM-D EM-1 MKii with this lens. Very happy. Im no a expert / but the results have been comparable to the full frame Nikon and Sigma ART lens.
A great professional lens
This 12-45 mm pro lens is super sharp for shooting in any situation even in low light situations. I tested it at many different aperture and iso settings even indoors without a flash. I am using this lens on a Om Em 1 Mark Iii . Lens is very fast for a multi function zoom at F4 through its entire zoom range 24-90mm 35mm or full frame equivalent.
