Cartoni KF08-RLM Reviews

Amazing legs

The head is not that great but the legs are so good. Careful with the pull up mechanism. If the spreader is out, there is a piece that will get stuck in the loops and that gets embarrassing to fix infront of people.

Good head, excellent legs

I was surprised to discover the exterior shell of the head was constructed of plastic. I never saw any mention of that in the reviews and it does make it feel, well, plasticky. Nevertheless, it's a good design, I like the quality of the movement, and I love legs -- setup is super quick and the strap to pull the legs together when you fold them up is a really nice touch.

Will the composite material of the head hold up as long as metal?
Asked by: Pino
Composite materials do not hold up as long as metal that being said this tripod is still extremely durable and should last a long time. Cartoni certainly has faith in their products' longevity as they offer a 3 year warranty that can be extended to 5 years once you register the tripod.

When finished shooting and placing the Focus ...

When finished shooting and placing the Focus tripod & head in the bag, is it recommended the counter balance and pan/tilt settings be zeroed out? Can you leave the Focus head settings configured for the camera when traveling?
Asked by: W. Bill
We think you could work either way. If the head is not going to move or be compacted in packing you could leave the settings you work with normally. The only time we would think you may want to change the counterbalance if if the head will be packed in a way where other items may push on the head and cause strain.

I need to film a fairly close up headshot of someone while they're standing. They're 5'10". Is this system tall enough or should I invest in the Stabilo?
Asked by: Pino
The Cartoni Focus 8 has a 63.5" maximum height. If they are sitting, this tripod will do just fine. Otherwise, I recommend raising the height by using apple boxes.
