Compact and Secure Storage for Life On the Go
The metallic red Samsung 2TB T7 Portable SSD is a compact and secure storage solution that fits in the palm of your hand. Roughly the size of a few stacked credit cards, the T7 is equipped with 256-bit AES encryption and password protection, so users can rest assured knowing their data is safe. Moreover, with PCIe NVMe technology, the T7 offers users quick performance and little downtime with read and write speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and 1000 MB/s respectively. With a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, it's also backward compatible with USB 3.0 and Type-A devices with an appropriate cable.
Lightweight and Durable Design
Boasting a slim and lightweight body, the T7 is designed for easy transport via a pocket-sized form factor. Roughly the size of a credit card and weighing in at just 2 ounces, this drive features a solid aluminum unibody construction that fits comfortably in the palm of your hand.

SSD stands for Solid State Drive, which means it's built with no moving parts. The hardware can be secured with an AES 256-bit encrypted password and is encased in a sturdy metal body that keeps data intact from falls of up to 6.6'.

Use the T7 without worrying about overheating. An advanced thermal solution uses Dynamic Thermal Guard technology to withstand and control heat, so the compact SSD stays at an optimal temperature even at fast speeds.

Optimize Performance with Embedded Management Software
  • The T7 comes with embedded management software, which helps you set up a password and get firmware updates
  • Gauge drive health and check longevity via TBW
  • Get benchmarks and optimize performance
  • The software works with Windows and Mac computers and is compatible with Windows 7 and higher and Mac OS X 10.10 and higher
  • You can also download the mobile app for Android smartphones and tablets running on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and higher
Access Files Anytime, Anywhere
The T7 is compatible with Windows, Mac, Android devices, gaming consoles, and more. Included in the box are USB-C to C and C to A cables for added convenience.

Samsung T7 External SSD Reviews

Great drive for the price

I have had a T-5 for four years and had no problems. These newer ones, seem to be just as good and the transfer rates are pretty good: a 10Gb file in about 4 minutes. I’m happy.

Works great! Have 3 now!

Nothing negative to say and love these drives! My only comment is that despite the fact that the ExFat default formatting will technically work on a Mac, in reality many applications do not like it and it can cause issues. Unless you have a need to use it on both a Mac and Windows machine and/or Android device I recommend just immediately reformatting to APFS using Disk Utility.

Great so far

It’s physically smaller than I expected, which is a plus and performs exactly as advertised.

Fast, small and easy to use. It seems rugged enough to last a long time. Great for photo trips to back up images instead of needing a ton of in-camera cards.

Light and small! Me likey!

Not as super fast as I thought it would be but could because I used it with old dying computer. Overall satisfied!

Fast, compact, good value from B&H.

This is my 2nd Samsung 2TB T7 Portable SSD. If a 4TB one is available at a good price, I'd get one of those too.

Always a good purchase

I recommend this for using with Blackmagic Design cinema cameras, it works well with my BMPCC 6K G2, however if you're thinking of mounting it to the camera with the Smallrig wood handle w/hard drive slot, be careful. This T7 does NOT fit all the way into THAT handle slot, so it makes the whole store your harddrive in the rig handle option obsolete.

Would this be suitable for primary photo editing/storage using Lightroom?
Asked by: Michael
I use a Samsung 2TB T7 to store my Lightroom catalog and then a sperate one to store the original RAW files. That way I can always go back to the RAW files in Lightroom or Photoshop if I what to do something different with them. I took a clean T7 to Africa recently to download RAW files as backup. They have all worked extremally well.

What is the reformat procedure for the Samsung T7 to APFS? For Time Machine. Using macOS Ventura13.4.1 Mac Studio 2022
Asked by: Thomas
To reformat the Samsung T7 to APFS, connect it to your Mac, then open Disc Utility. With Disk Utility open, select the Samsun T7 in the list of drives and click Erase. Finally, in the Format pop-up menu, select APFS and enter a name. The drive will then be erased and reformatted to APFS so it can be used as a Time Machine backup.

You can, but not natively. Youd have to add a dock in the mix via your iMacs Thunderbolt 2 ports with USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 capability.
