The SHAPE camera bag is great for carrying a fully-rigged cinema camera without needing to transport your camera cage/rig attachments in a separate bag. The camera bag is very spacious and comes with multiple pockets and pouches for storing additional equipment, such as batteries, chargers, a white-balance card, etc. The only thing you need to be aware of is that the camera bag is spacious width-wise, vertical-length-wise; it is not bad, but if you plan to put your monitor or shotgun mic on top of your rig's top handle, the camera won't fit in the bag. A little con about the bag, but other than that, if you put on the essentials on your camera, then you're good. Overall, the SHAPE camera bag is very impressive as it helps other filmmakers and me put our fully-rigged cinema camera in a camera bag that is spacious, and whenever we go on set, we can be able to take our camera out and begin filming without wasting any time putting on any attachments, saving us a lot of time and effort.

Although the Shape Camera Bag with Removable Pouches, does not have a compartment that is specifically intended for a laptop, a laptop could fit in the main compartment. We would suggest protecting the laptop with an appropriate laptop carry case / sleeve, while in the main compartment with camera gear.

I just received the bag w/ two interior panels for reinforcement. One is slightly taller than the either - which is supposed to go in the front and which in the back? Thank you!

With the SHAPE Camera Bag with Removable Pouches, please use the taller panel in the back and the shorter one in the front.

The SHAPE Camera Bag with Removable Pouches does not have an IP rating. But, when used with the included rain cover it would protect your gear, and the bag from being drenched by rainy weather.

As the bag only has rigid inserts for the front and back, what supports the sides of the bag? I'm concerned about protecting my camera if a clueless PA places something on top of the bag.

Technically, carry on size is usually 22 x 14 x 9 or close to it. This bag (minus accessory/side bags) is 20x12x12. It's soft sided, so it may possibly fit/squeeze into an overhead bin. Expect to have to check it, but they may not ask if you make it as small as possible or can close the bin.
