This Custom L-Bracket from Sunwayfoto is specifically designed for the Canon EOS 90D DSLR Camera. It features Arca-type dovetail mounts on both its vertical and horizontal axis to let you flip the camera from portrait to landscape mode when using an Arca-type tripod head. The open design of the side of the plate allows full access to the side ports of the camera. Built-in bubble levels are provided for photo composition, and multiple 1/4"-20 holes allow small accessories such as a light or microphone to be attached. It features safety screws on each axis to prevent the camera from releasing from the quick release receiver prematurely.

Perfect for EOS 90D

It appears custom for the 90D as described and allows access to all 90D plugs, connections, and enclosures without removal. Great for taking Portrait and Landscape images without hanging the camera off the side of the tripod. My only reservation, which is really not a factor for me is the 18mm opening in the Vertical frame, presumably for cables to pass. My Ballhead mount QR clamp edge spans about 30mm providing about 10-12mm of clamping edge to work with minus the gap in the L-Bracket. Still works fine and very stable. I just think the L-bracket cable gap could be smaller or not at all. Other than that, I am very happy with this piece.

I ordered this L-bracket because the Really Right Stuff bracket is unavailable everywhere. This bracket design blocks access to the side ports, so they added a slide feature, which means the user must keep the Allen wrench handy to loosen the screws - or position the side of the bracket to stick out from the camera all the time. Neither option is particularly appealing, but I ordered it anyway. However, while installing it on my camera for the first time, the screw head broke off of the smaller screw and I was just using my fingers! This is a poor design, very cheaply made, and definitely not worth $50. Hold out for the Really Right Stuff version to be available again or look for another brand. I returned this one for a refund.

Will this fit the Center 494 ball head of Manfrotto?

Not natively. The 494 only accepts 200PL plates, of which this L-bracket is not. You could mount the Manfrotto base plate to the L-bracket but that would ultimately defeat the purpose.

Yes, the Vanguard 235 uses an Arca Swiss clamp and so the L bracket will fit.
