Awful. The advertised write speeds of 800 MB/s are a complete fantasy that they pulled from mid-air. In real life you'll never get anything close. Sometimes it's worse than a USB 2.0 thumb drive. Other times it's ok and more like a SATA III SSD speeds. This is when connected to a modern Mac with TB3 or TB4 connections. No rhyme or reason why.

Yes, this X6 Portable SSD can be reformatted. It can even be used with iPads that have the USB type-C connection and the iPadOS 13 or later running.

APFS is the default MacOS option for file formats. If you want to be able to use the drive with Windows as well exFat is a good choice.
