This is an okay desk pad. It moves too easily and it could be a tad wider but it gets the job done holding my keyboard and trackpad.
Satechi products are always top-notched. This one included.
I don't write on it with a pen, so I can't speak to that. I don't use a mouse on it either. I can tell you that the stitching around the edge, while looking very finished and professional, collects crumbs from your lunch. I bought it to protect the wood surface of my new desk, and it's doing a great job of that.
