I Highly Recommend This Genuine Ricoh Adapter If You Plan To Use The Ricoh Teleconverter With The Ricoh GR Iiix! Before This Purchase, I Had Been Using An Aftermarket Alternative Adapter, Which Was Cheaper But Had Two Significant Flaws. Number One, It Did Not Lock Securely In Place On The Camera. I Had Stopped Using The Teleconverter Lens Out Of Fear That The Adapter Would Come Loose, Causing Me To Drop The Lens, The Camera, Or Both. Number Two, It Did Not Have Contacts Communicating With The Camera That The Tele-converter Was In Place. Although A Workaround Existed For The Second Issue, It Was A Nuisance To Implement Manually. My Advice: Spend The Extra Bucks To Purchase This Genuine Ricoh Adapter!

Could you be so kind to clarify something for me? When you mount the GA-2 adaptor on the camera is the focal length still 40mm. Or will the camera crop in? In the Ricoh docs it says so, I am looking for a way to mount filters to the GR IIIx and it would be a bummer if the camera cropped in. Thanks!
The Ricoh GA-2 Lens Adapter is designed for use with the Ricoh GT-2 Tele Conversion lens. When both the Ricoh GA-2 and the GT-2 are used on the Ricoh GR IIIx Digital Camera, the camera automatically detects the GT-2 as a tele conversion lens and extends the focal length to approximately a 75mm equivalent with the camera's crop mode, or to approximately 107mm in the secondary crop mode.

I am primarily concered with dust protection when hiking.
The purpose of the Ricoh GA-2 Lens Adapter is to mount conversion lenses on the Ricoh GR IIIx Digital Camera, not filters for dust protection. The NiSi 49mm Filter Adapter for Ricoh GR IIIx, BH #NI49FARGR3X, will allow you to mount the Chiaro Pro 49mm 99-UVBTS Brass UV Filter, BH #CHT99UVBTS49, which will protect the lens from dust while hiking.
