Great filter for protecting the lens.

Now that they changed the bag from cloth to leather, B+W has regained the lead!!

I own just about every size of B+W filter ( 46-77MM). I chose to buy B+W because they are made of brass and they don't stick if you want to remove them. The quality of the filter is first rate. All my filters were bought from B+H so I know that they are legitimate. But, I still checked with B+W. No issue. So, why the loss of the star? Because, up until recently all B+W filters came in a plastic case that not only kept them protected in transit, but also, because the filter arrived dust free. Well, that changed for a while and the "new filters" came in a cloth bag that had significant lint. I unfortunately got one of those. No exaggeration, it took me about thirty minutes to blow the dust off the filter. Many photo types like myself were upset and wrote about it mostly on this site. Anyway, they must have heard us and replaced the cotton bag with a leather one ( most of my B+W filters came in the leather bag). Big difference. No dust or lint!!. To summarize, great filter, a bit expensive, and now lint/dust free.

What is the difference between the MRC & MRC Nano ...

What is the difference between the MRC & MRC Nano coatings?
Asked by: Jacob
"Multi Resistant Coating" (MRC) and "Nano" coating are now combined on B+W filters: the coating resists dust and moisture, and offers significant resistance to mechanical scratches on the surface of the lens. Cleaning filters with the hard, water-repellant MRC Nano system of coatings is considerably easier than cleaning filters without this coating.

I recently purchased this filter. How long does the muti coating last ?In other words, does the filter deteriorate over time?
Asked by: Harvey
Multicoating on a good filter will last as long as the filter, if it isn't scratched or damaged by careless cleaning with low-quality products.
