Canon MF445dw Overview

The imageCLASS MF455dw is designed for small and medium-size businesses and allows you to print, scan, copy, and fax, with scanning supported in black and white and color. It features a 250-sheet main input tray and 100-sheet multipurpose tray, and also supports an optional 550-sheet input tray. A 5" color touchscreen delivers an intuitive user experience and can be customized by a device administrator to simplify many daily tasks. The printer comes with the Canon Genuine Toner 057 Black, which yields 3100 pages. The optional 057 High Capacity Black toner is also supported.

The imageCLASS MF455dw lets you print up to 40 ppm in letter size and 32 ppm in legal size. The copy speed is the same. The scan function supports letter, legal, and statement document sizes and scans can be made in color. Duplex scanning is supported.

The Application Library platform allows for one-touch button creation of key functions, such as Print Template, Standby Slide, and Scan-to-Preset Destination. The Application Library's Cloud App feature supports cloud storage directly from an external webpage. Print or Scan documents directly to or from DropBox, Google Drive, or OneDrive.
Create a Wi-Fi Direct hotspot from the printer to establish direct connection to compatible mobile devices without the need for an external router. From application-based to cloud-based to device native, the imageCLASS MF455dw offers a variety of methods for printing from a mobile phone or tablet across compatible iOS and Android devices. The Canon PRINT Business application, which supports both platforms, offers access to additional device settings as well as the ability to scan from the printer to a compatible mobile phone or tablet.
Scan and convert documents to searchable digital files through a single-pass duplex document feeder. The imageCLASS MF455dw leverages a single-pass document feeder for two-sided scanning at up to 70 images per minute (ipm) in black and white or up to 26 ipm in color. Scanned files can be converted into multiple file formats, including Hi-Compression PDF and Searchable PDF (OCR).
Designed for smaller print jobs with first print time as fast as 5.4 seconds.
The main input tray supports letter, legal, statement, executive, and custom paper sizes from 4.1 x 5.8" to 8.5 x 14". The multipurpose tray supports letter, legal, statement, and executive sizes. Envelopes are supported in the COM10, Monarch, C5, and DL custom sizes (3 x 5" to 8.5 x 14").
The main input tray supports 16 to 32 lb bond paper (60 to 120 gsm), and the multipurpose tray supports 16 lb to 43 lb bond (60 to 163 gsm).
Documents are only stored in short-term memory to help mitigate the risk of confidential information loss.
Security settings can be set behind an administrator login.
A combination of fusing technologies and low-melting-point toner minimizes power requirements and uses less energy.

Easy to set up, fast print and good print quality. Instructions were straightforward and WiFi connection is steady. It makes duplex scanning printing and copying with ease. The only drawback was not even related to Canon - it was Apple Airprint, that refused to print jpeg pictures, but switching to Canon driver resolved the problem. Quality printer !

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This printer is amazing. It was so easy to set up. Right out the box I used it to print multiple pages at once from my phone. It worked very well and printed it flawlessly. It didn’t take a long time it was almost instant. I was so amazed by how fast it printed pages. I’ve also tried the scanner and copy and those work equally amazing. I would recommend.

I have spent more than 20 hours trying to get this scanner to work. It keeps saying driver mismatch. Eventvwr says driver has not been upgraded after OS upgrade to Windows 10. The OS was never upgraded. I bought a Windows 10 and then added the device. I tried uninstalling it -- but it says the device is in use...cannot find any software using it. I removed the device, restarted the computer, and reinstalled everything -- but the junk still does not work despite several attempts. So disappointed.

I have sold a number of these to my clients. They are easy to use and configure/setup. Printer performance is excellent and all my clients LOVE them. That makes selling more of them an easy task. So far I have never had to contact customer service as it performs as stated and works great.

The printer is fast and prints good quality. The scanner works great. The only criticism that I might have with it is the software that is given to scan documents. It could be written better, making changes to duplex scanning, etc., access easier, as part of the scan profile instead of being buried in the settings. I would also increase the size of the preview of a scanned document larger and allow to, on the fly, change the size of the document to fit the original instead of it always being 8.5 x 11. B&H was great and got the printer to me within 2 days.

How do I select the printer to print from the top tray?

The printer can be set to default to a particular drawer, and your print driver will allow you to select which drawer you print from. Unless you've purchased the optional second drawer, your choices are drawer 1 or multi purpose tray. If printing from Google Chrome, you will have to go to the bottom of the dialog and select to Print using the System Dialog.

If you are "pulling" a scan by using a scanner app from your PC, you can get up to 600dpi. Regretfully, if you initiate scanning from the printer (e.g., scan to email), it only scans at 300dpi. This has been added to the printer specs by Canon, but was not in the specs when I purchased this printer. To tell the truth, I wouldn't have purchased it if I had known.

It comes with a standard size toner cartridge already installed. Because I connect to the computer through an USB port, it was necessary to utiluze the included CD disk to install the driver (Windows 10).
