Having a small charger that handles 2 batteries is a huge improvement. The indicator lights let you know the exact status of the charging. So glad OM offers this.

It is a little pricey for what it is. Honestly, Olympus should do what other manufacturers do and give you a single charger when purchasing their cameras - which is why I'm only giving it 3 stars. It is better than doing the in-camera charging, which is the main reason I purchased it despite how pricey it is.

It's shocking that for $150, OM Systems doesn't include a cord or plug.

Can we use a non-OM Systems cord and plug adapter with this charger, and if so, will any USB-C cable and power adapter work, or are their specs to keep in mind?
As long as the USB cable is for power and is USB-C and the power adapter is a strong one you are set. The camera does come with a usb adapter and usb cord. So, those are the best to use.

why does this charger have 4 pins and most aftermarket ones have only 2 pins? Does it make a difference?
The two extra pins (present in BCX-1, missing in aftermarket chargers) handle the BLX-1 battery's overtemperature protection logic. So, they're there for your safety (since LiIon batteries get a little *exciting* when they overheat).

Unfortunately OM SYSTEM BCX-1 Lithium-Ion Battery Charger does not accept BLH batteries.
