MSI Z790-P WiFi Overview

Get ample connectivity and performance with the PRO Z790-P WIFI LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard from MSI. Utilizing the Intel Z790 chipset and LGA 1700 socket, this ATX motherboard sports four DDR5 RAM slots supporting dual channel memory and speeds up to 7000 MHz when overclocked. Six SATA III and four M.2 interfaces provide room for storage and support RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10. Install GPUs or other adapter cards via PCIe 5.0 x16, PCIe 4.0 x16, PCIe 3.0 x16, and PCIe 3.0 x1 slots. Take advantage of fast networking with a 2.5 GbE Intel LAN and Wi-Fi 6E; connect to wireless peripherals in a flash using Bluetooth 5.2.

The Realtek ALC897 audio codec supports 7.1 channel surround sound, while rear ports allow for analog output. Connect wired peripherals via a USB 3.2 Gen 2, two Gen 1, and four USB 2.0 Type-A ports, or via a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port. A PS/2 port is also present, allowing for connections to legacy peripherals. Output video via DisplayPort and HDMI. The rear I/O panel also sports a Flash BIOS button, while internal headers provide support for front-panel USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C and USB 3.2 Gen 1 and 2.0 Type-A ports, RGB connectors, chassis intrusion, a TPM module, and more.

Great Upgrade From Z390 Mobo

I bought this to replace a four-year old Z390 mobo, adding an i7-14700KF CPU and 64 GB DDR memory. All to get ready for MS Flight Sim 2024. Super happy with the usual B&H fast-and-free delivery and policies. Booted right up with my older SSD boot drive, which I then cleaned up previous system drivers and installed new ones for this mobo. Very stable and of course faster than my old rig.

Nice Motherboard for Core i9-14900K

I chose this motherboard for several reasons. First, I wanted to be able to easily flash the BIOS to use the Core i9-14900K I purchased. It is also simple to underclock the voltage. I wanted a motherboard that supports 128GB RAM because I run a lot of virtualization for my projects. I like that is has 4 m2 slots which gives me plenty of fast storage.

Will I need to remove the heatsink from my m.2 storage (Samsung 980 pro w/heatsink) to fit it on this board?

For the MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard BH #MSPROZ790PWF M.2 heatsink compatibility will depend on the slot used and if there is a GPU in the way.
