Kodak AZ405 Reviews
Nice Camera but Needs the Right Batteries
This is an nice camera for the money. Don't expect high end speed or performance at this price but it has all the bells and whistles that I need. The menus are easy to use. There is no manual but I printed one out on line. What sets it apart from a really good cell phone camera is the 40X optical zoom. Unfortunately, the camera needs high voltage to operate. Alkaline batteries don't last and are not economical. The camera showed the alkaline batteries as dead when they still were operating with over 1.3V. This means even standard rechargeable NiMH are useless even with a full charge. What does work very well are rechargeable AA lithium batteries. I would highly recommend those that keep a steady voltage of 1.5V such as those made by Hixon. I would not recommend those that mimic an alkaline battery such as Coast. The camera battery life indicator won't work with the Hixon but you do get full use of the battery capacity while you won't get full life with those that mimic alkaline. This camera was totally useless to me with alkaline batteries so this is a good solution even if there is an upfront cost. I have two sets of batteries to be always ready but I find that the capacity of one fully charged set will easily last me a day or more.
Great camera
So far, the camera is better than I expected. Love it.
