Sony A6700 Reviews
SONY A6700 IS A GREAT CAMERA

I've owed several Sony video and stills cameras over the years. While the Sony 'menu system' is a bit daughting at first, it makes sense after you work with it for awhile. The good news, other Sony video/stills 'menus' are similar, so if you go with other Sony products you should have no issues with the 'menu'. I haven't gotten out to use this much, but the few images I've taken have been very good. This camera is strictly for casual family images. I know it's blasphemy, but my still images are Jpegs and my videos are done in Picture Profile (PP) 11, i.e., S-Cinetone video straight from the camera no Post color grading. I have 'tweaked' the settings a little which makes the video a little more punchy. Sony cameras are well known to have a somewhat 'flat' look straight from the camera. I've been using it with the Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens. I like the perspective it gives.
Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase.

My primary goal is recording my friends as we attend events, travel, etc. Secondary is wildlife. The image stabilization when indoors (without using flash) is critical. My high school camera was an srt-101. I've used Canon and Nikon gear and the sweet spot for me of performance and cost has almost always been Sony gear.
I've a fast internet connection at home but pairing with an iPhone 14 pro max was not as straight forward as I'd hoped.
Buggy, format issues, boring

Issues with videos writing to card, color streaks in my videos, XAVC is less convenient to work with than regular video files, cant control auto exposure, wasn’t working with my Tamron 17-70mm, boring to use (not enough customizations compared to Fuji and Panasonic cameras) Returned it. Will be going back to Panasonic or Fuji.
Feels like a gift even though I paid for it

I've been using Sony's E mount since the NEX-5N and my most recent E mount camera before this was the a6100. As the years went by and watching full frame body after full frame body come out, I started to wonder if Sony had abandoned the APS-C format. I'm a person who doesn't need the benefits of full frame and would rather shoot APS-C due to its smaller size and cost.
And so those of us who have invested in APS-C lenses over the years finally get the latest Sony autofocus, fully articulating screen, a front dial, modern sensor, updated menus, responsive body and a couple extra megapixels. The autofocus alone is worth the upgrade for me. I've only used the camera a couple of times so far so this is my first impression and I don't have a lot of specific things to say.
Also, while Lightroom's color profile for my a6100 was not good and requires lots of color tweaks to even get to acceptable, I'm happy to report that raw files from the a6700 look great in Lightroom Classic by default and closely match Sony's jpeg color rendering.
This body has even made some of my older lenses more useable again. I had been having problems with my Sigma 30mm not wanting to focus, but it seems to work just fine with this body.
One more comment, in case anyone at Sony is reading this. I recently got my hands on an old NEX-5N again after many years and it reminded me of how small Sony originally intended to make cameras. All of Sony's modern cameras are giants compared to the original and I know it's because they also need to be video cameras, but here's a crazy idea for you... make a photo-only NEX-5N mark 2 with a 26 megapixel APS-C sensor and any other modern tech you can get in there. I promise they'll sell like hotcakes! Especially if you can make a new pancake lens or two.

My primary is not a Sony but this is my new every day camera, webcam and multitool. I purchased it for the form factor, its small and discrete. It'll not draw a lot of attention during street and its light enough I can hang a small rig clamp off a shelf above my PC and use it as a webcam from that. I love it and carry it with me almost as much as I carry my phone.
Amazed to hand hold 1/10 sec and maybe less

I got the 6700 as soon as it was possible. It IS a BIG step up from the 6300. I've used in street photography and in low light situation (aperture priority) I have clear no shake images 1/10sec. What a surprise Using the 24-70 there is a noticeable step up in sharpness of image form the 6300. The eye autofocus knocks it out of the park when I was shooting dogs at the market. I even got clear usable pic just holding the camera on my chest and point at walking subject. The auto focus is amazing.
This WILL be Sony's APS-C flagship

This review is coming from someone who has only ever used Sony APS-C, upgrading from the a6400.
If you're coming from any of the previous Sony APS-C cameras, this will be generations ahead. Without getting into any of the specs, I love having the ability to shoot high quality video now. Photos are crisp and operating the camera is just as easy, if not easier.
The ergonomics from the grip size to dial access is hugely improved. I prefer a bit of a bigger body. Keep in mind, the APS-C lenses will still be cheaper and typically smaller, so I'd still consider this to be a lightweight option.
All in all, a great option if you wanted to get into video or are looking for a solid hybrid camera. AND it's APS-C. Size and function with little compromise.

I own a full frame Sony A7IV and I was looking for a second camera, now some times for travels the A6700 will be my primary camera, the difference in weight and size is notable and the difference en quality for landscape is minimal
