Areca ARC-8050T3U External HDD Overview

Give your creative workflow a major boost with the ARC-8050T3U 112TB 8-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array from Areca. Each of the eight 3.5" bays has a 14TB enterprise-class SATA III hard drive installed, providing 112TB of total storage for your massive files such as ProRes video, RAW photos, and 3D renders.

The hardware-based controller allows you to configure the drive tower in RAID 0, 1, 10, 3, 5, 6, 30, 50, or 60 mode to balance between speed, accessible storage, and data redundancy. With two Thunderbolt 3 ports, you can daisy chain up to six ARC-8050T3U enclosure or other devices directly to your compatible computer with an up to 40 Gb/s connection. Hardware-based encryption and self-encrypting drive (SED) support helps to protect your data. A DisplayPort output lets you enhance your workflow by connecting a separate 8K, 30 Hz monitor. Dual fans help to maintain optimal performance. The ARC-8050T3U is designed to work with Windows and macOS devices.

True Hardware RAID Controller
At the heart of ARC-8050T3U 8-bay RAID storage is a powerful dual-core Broadcom ROC It delivers true hardware RAID functionality without sharing the CPU computing power on the host system, which also eases off CPU loading as compared to software RAID and when rebuilding an array in the event of a drive failure.
Controller-Based Hardware Encryption Engine
Host independent real-time controller-based hardware encryption does not impact the performance of ARC-8050T3U, storage and it can implement on any kind of hard drive that is transparent to the user, the OS, and applications. SED encryption secures sensitive data from unauthorized access or modification in the event of drive theft, as well as more routine activities such as the return of defective drives for servicing or the decommission or repurposing of drives. Local key management in the controller is designed to protect data from security breaches with minimal cost and complexity. The ARC-8050T3U supports 128- and 256-bit encryption keys or passwords.
SED-Based Encryption
The Areca firmware Security Function works with self-encrypting drives (SEDs) to secure their data from unauthorized access or modification. Protection is achieved by the SED hard drive that automatically and continuously encrypts the data on the drive without any user interaction.
High-Speed Onboard Cache
The ARC-8050T3U offers smooth multitasking during sustained 4K overloads in 4K environment with 2GB of 1866 MHz DDR3 memory. You can configure how much SDRAM cache SDRAM is dedicated to read and how much for write to fit your performance needs.
Easy Management
Configure and manage your ARC-8050T3U directly using the convenient LCD screen, which provides information at a glance. Alternatively, you can manage the device using the browser-based interface when it is connected to your Thunderbolt 3 compatible computer or through the Gigabit Ethernet port.
