FINALLY - the answer to my scanning needs

I shoot roughly 60 - 80 rolls of film per year and without exception, the lab scans from some of the best known labs are pure JPG garbage. I am stuck with a tiny image that has very little room for manipulation and what is - at best - a lab tech's version of my intent. I own an Epson V800 and the top of the line Plustek. The V800 is great for sheet film and the Plustek is good for a quick scan with surprising image quality - but both of them are very slow. I have tried scanning in the past with my camera - but it was exhausting and the results were hit and miss. Not an issue with this. I have been using my Z8 and 105mm macro along with a remote release to scan my film backlog and it is amazing how quick I churn through. 6x7 is basically 1 scan per minute and that includes zooming in for critical focus and backing the negative out to reverse it so I can scan the other half. 35mm is a breeze with a 36 exposure roll taking less than 20 minutes. The image quality is night and day different than lab scans and if I am being honest - well beyond what my V800 and Plustek can produce. Critical focus is simple and repeatable. Everything is well made in terms of scanning tools. It isn't perfect - but the issues are nits that I can work around (for example, the borderless holder makes it difficult to flatten the negative and the negatives tend to miss the exit point on the holder if you aren't careful). Used as intended - you end up with great results - and it is cheaper than the only pure 120 scanner on the market. I won't be paying my lab ridiculously exorbitant prices to scan anymore - so I figure this will pay for itself in about a year and a half.
