I ordered the $35 handgrip on Amazon from JJC. It's a fine grip and works but the grip feels like rubber. I thought the open bottom would be a positive with access to the battery panel without taking off the grip. However, now that I think about it, I would rather have a protective grip that covers the bottom completely and this Leica one does that. Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it shouldn't cost that much. But the difference in feel and protection is worth every penny. Thank you B&H!

The Leica D-Lux 8 Handgrip (Black) will not fit in the Leica D-Lux 8 Leather Half Case (Black). The case will fit the Leica D-Lux 8 Digital Camera precisely.

You can screw the "Really Right Stuff BPnS bi-directional plate for point-n-shoot" into the tripod socket. If you use its slot end closer to the center of the camera, the center of the lens will be very close to the vertical axis of the tripod. The way the handgrip attaches to the camera permits removing the handgrip without having to remove the BPnS first. You do have to remove the handgrip to access the battery compartment.

The Leica D-Lux 8 Handgrip (Black) is only compatible with the D-Lux 8 camera. The model number of the grip for the D-Lux 7 is #19541, and it can sometimes be found used.
