It allows for extra balance and a place for mounting an external SSD and/or a fill light.

Works, but feels cheap

The handle works pretty well, it functions as intended. The minor negative I would say about it is that adjusting the angle of the arm isn't as smooth as it could be. But that's not a deal-breaker. The biggest negative is that the handle cost $50, and the grip feels very cheap! From the pictures it looks like good quality, but the feel in hand is a thin plastic shell. I expected a lot more for the price tag, and the handle looks great in pictures. Having known the quality I just would have went with one of the $30 options that they offer.
