High-Definition Video with Wide Dynamic Range
The camera features a 1/1.3" sensor to record up to UHD 4K120 video and capture experiences in dynamic, smooth detail. A super-wide 155° FOV ensures all the action is in frame. The 10-bit D-Log M color mode provides over one billion colors and a wide 13.5-stop dynamic range for vivid footage. It also features SuperNight mode for high-quality, low-light performance.
High-Res Photos
Press the shutter button for stunning still photos and crop easily. Each photo boasts approximately 4x the clarity of the previous generation with roughly 40MP (7296 x 5472) or 8K (16:9) resolution.

You can also convert 3-second videos into moving, dynamic photos.

Clear OLED Touchscreens
The Action 5 Pro features a larger screen area and smaller bezels on its large 2.5" OLED back touchscreen with 1000 cd/m² brightness. The 1.46" front OLED screen features 800 cd/m² brightness and is convenient for vlogging and framing selfies and supports commonly used touch control functions.

No more turning the camera around for parameter adjustments, mode switching, or video playback. When the camera is switched between horizontal and vertical orientations, the user interface adapts accordingly. The touchscreens are also sensitive enough to be operated easily with wet hands.

HorizonSteady, HorizonBalancing, RockSteady
This smart stabilization feature helps to eliminate camera shake in all directions and even horizontally corrects tilt at any angle in 2.7K60 video. That means footage can remain horizontally level, even through heavy bumps and 360° rotations. In addition, you can activate HorizonBalancing, which corrects the tilt horizontally within ±45° and supports recording stable 4K60 videos.

RockSteady 3.0 effectively reduces shakes while retaining the dynamic impact of motion, delivering a more immersive first-person perspective and supporting video recording up to 4K120.

Capture Options
Slow down those action shots with 32x Super Slow Motion. The Action 5 Pro's powerful 4nm chip enables frame-by-frame analysis and 4x frame interpolation for up to 32x slow motion. Shoot at 1080p240 and produce the video equivalent of 960 fps in post.

With the pre-recording feature, you can capture and retain exciting moments before the official recording starts.

The highlight feature allows you to quickly mark key moments to speed up the editing process.

Efficient Configurations
The magnetic quick release design of the Action 5 Pro allows you to easily switch things up when needed. Detach and switch between different mounts and accessories. The horizontal-vertical protective frame lets you natively shoot vertical video for social media platforms.

Tempered glass ensures durability, and the AF coating keeps touch controls responsive, even when wet. With Always On Display enabled, both screens show recording duration and specifications for lower power consumption. Get essential information at a glance without being disturbed by bright lights at night.

Subject Tracking
DJI brings subject tracking to an action camera. Action 5 Pro now intelligently detects the subject's position and dynamically adjusts the composition.

Keep the subject centered in every frame during horizontal or vertical shots.

Recording
In addition to the microSD card slot that supports up to 1TB cards, the camera features built-in 47GB storage for even more video. It features further optimized bitrate for even smaller file sizes.

You can also quickly transfer files via Wi-Fi 6 and USB 3.0 with wireless transfer speeds up to 80 MB/s.

Long Battery Life with Fast Charge
Continuously record for up to four hours with the enhanced 1950mAh high-capacity Battery Plus, capable of operating in temperatures as low as -4°F. Fast charging technology allows you to power up the battery for a 2-hour charge in just 15 minutes.
Wi-Fi Live Streaming
Live stream directly from your Action 5 Pro using the built-in dual-band Wi-Fi or your phone's hotspot.

Choose your preferred platform and resolution to connect anywhere and record your footage.

Built-In Water Pressure Gauge
A built-in water pressure gauge displays water depth and altitude, and it automatically starts/stops recording when entering/exiting water. It activates underwater at a depth of 3.3' and is only effective when the camera is submerged without a waterproof case.
Onboard Audio Interface
Three built-in omnidirectional microphones record accurate and clear sound. Connect the separately available DJI Mic 2 for a portable, easy-to-mount audio solution with 32-bit float recording. The camera can connect to other external microphones using an optional USB-C to 3.5mm cable.
Waterproof and Durable Design
The camera body can be fully submerged up to 65.6', enhancing your underwater adventures without the need for additional accessories.

If you add the optional Waterproof Case, it stays waterproof down to a 197' depth.

Timecode Sync
Built-in timecode in the Osmo Action 5 Pro allows you to easily synchronize footage in multicamera shooting scenarios.
SuperNight Mode
Take your Action 5 with you for day or night shoots. SuperNight mode uses AI noise reduction algorithms for sharper, cleaner footage in extremely low light.
Mimo App
Once your smartphone is wirelessly connected to Osmo Action 5 Pro, the Mimo app allows you to preview the camera view and adjust the settings. It comes with a variety of editing templates and the One-Tap Edit feature, all without needing to download the footage during editing to save your phone's storage space. The Mimo app also includes diverse editing features for action cameras, such as Sports Dashboard, Vivid Underwater, and InvisiStick.

The best action camera with pro features in the market. Incredible how many Pro features is packed into this camera: D-log M picture profile, manual controls for exposure - ISO, Shutter, white balance. On the audio side, if you use DJI's wireless mics - Mic mini, Mic 3, you get high quality audio and if using 2 transmitters with mono selected, you can enable a safety track on the at a lower level. Has up to 4k 120 fps. Has internal and external option for storage. Comes with a high capacity battery - 1950mAh.

The Action 5 Pro holds up in 2026, especially when the price drops to $370 for the Adventure combo. It links flawlessly with the DJI Mic 3. The one I received in 2026 had no issues with the battery or USB-C doors (a possible issue early in its release). The battery case is very slim and efficient. No issues with the function of the camera so far.

When recording 1080p at 24fps, 16:9, with rocksteady on, wi-fi off, screen off, you can achieve up to 4 hours of continuous video recording with the DJI Action 5Pro.

As long as the "Built-in Mic Audio Backup" function is turned on, no matter whether an external Mic is connected or not, the .wav audio file will be generated (Note: Unable to save audio with videos recorded at 4K 100/120fps,1080p 240fps,Slo-Mo mode at 4K 4x(120fps),1080p 8x(240fps),in Pre-Rec,Webcam,or DisplayPort transmission mode).

Does it work as a standalone offline camera or is the app required for operation or even just for activation (like GoPro)?

You will need to use the DJI Mimo app on a smartphone to activate the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro Standard Combo, and the app is needed to update the camera when there are available updates. However, the app is not required for operation after the camera has been activated.
