6K Full-Frame Sensor
The 6K full-frame CMOS sensor at the heart of the C80 camera enables it to offer exceptionally low noise, increased sensitivity efficiency, and better 4K imagery via 6K oversampling. All this is possible thanks to the improved light capture technology of the back-illuminated, stacked CMOS sensor.
Multiple Recording Formats
The C80's multiple recording formats include up to full-frame 6K30 Canon Cinema RAW Light LT and cropped S35 up to 4K30 in RAW ST and 4K60 in RAW LT.
Oversampled 4K 120p or 2K 180p with maximized detail is available, all with 4:2:2 10-bit color.
Slow and fast motion can be captured at rates up to UHD 4K120 in HEVC and AVC codecs.
Make your editing process easier using XF-AVC S and XF-HEVC S codecs, featuring an easier naming system and folder structure, as well as metadata preservation, all within the established MP4 format.
RF Lens Mount
A built-in RF lens mount lends the EOS C80 compatibility with Canon's line of fast, reliable RF-mount lenses with advanced coatings and image stabilization.
With a short flange distance, the RF mount helps to noticeably reduce the camera body's depth, resulting in a more compact design.
Optional PL-RF Adapter
A new PL-RF lens mount adapter enables you to access a wide variety of ARRI PL-mount cine-style lenses.
This adapter features Cooke/i metadata compatibility and locking plates for a secure fit.
Multiple Interfaces Including 12G-SDI
Video outputs include full-size HDMI and 12G-SDI BNC outputs that can be used simultaneously for feeding an onboard monitor, video transmitter, or EVF.
Use the USB-C port for UVC video output or to connect to a smartphone or the Canon GP-E2 GPS receiver.
A BNC connector enables users to input and output timecode, making syncing on multicamera shoots easier.
Note that the BNC port can output either SDI video or timecode but not both simultaneously.
Dual-Pixel CMOS Autofocus
Improved Dual-Pixel CMOS AF Technology uses each pixel on approximately 100% of the CMOS sensor for focus detection and image information.
The back-illuminated stacked sensor's excellent light capture widens the sensor area, which can be used for AF.
The EOS C80 also offers the EOS iTR AF X autofocus function featuring an algorithm developed using deep-learning technology to detect the human form.
Mini-XLR Audio Inputs
Two mini-XLR inputs with phantom power and manual control dials provide professional audio recording options.
The EOS C80 supports 4-channel audio using dual mini-XLR ports, an internal stereo mic, and a 3.5mm mic input.
Built-In ND Filters
Designed for the EOS C80 RF mount's short flange distance, a thin motorized ND filter unit enables users to quickly select up to 10 stops of neutral density.
ND button controls on the right side of the camera enable operators to quickly adjust exposure while maintaining their shot's depth of field.
Log2/3 and 3D LUT Support
For greater post-production flexibility, the C80 offers Canon's Log 2 and Log 3 gamma modes, which provide an expanded dynamic range with excellent tonal reproduction for highlights and in low-light areas of your images. The EOS C80 also supports 3D LUTs, so you can get the most accurate color reproduction on both the LCD and your external viewing monitors.
Compact Design with Tilting LCD
The compact EOS C80 features a lightweight design with a built-in ergonomic grip and a joystick control.
It has a Multi-Accessory hot shoe on top and comes with a detachable handle and a mic holder.
The LCD screen features a reinforced hinge and built-in controls like focus peaking, waveforms, and more.
Dual SD Card Slots / Multiple Recording Options
Dual SD card slots on the EOS C80 offer simultaneous, relay, and proxy video recording. The EOS C80 can also capture JPEG still photos.
Ethernet and Wi-Fi Control
Use the Ethernet port and built-in Wi-Fi with an optional Canon RC-IP1000 or RC-IP100 unit to access the XC protocol-base remote control.
Compatibility with the Canon Multicamera Control app for iPhone provides monitoring and start/stop, focus, iris, zoom, ND filter, ISO, shutter, white balance, custom picture control, and more.
BP-AN Series Battery
Use the included BP-A30N battery, a BP-A60N battery, or a 24 VDC adapter to power the C80. Older BP-A batteries can also be used but will not power the Multi-Accessory hot shoe.
Support your C80 with a third-party cage to add a V-mount or Gold mount battery plate to enable longer runtimes.

Canon C80 RF Mount Reviews
The perfect documentary camera

I really love the C70. But I wanted better low light, better autofocus, SDI, better screen, better codecs, better camera plate screw position on the bottom, better key features in the camera, and the C80 went above and beyond to do all that. I thought about it as one that uses the C500 Mark 2, The R5, that CF Express 2 not being on the C80 is annoying. But I decided not enough to annoy me. I love the size, the build in NDs, the image. WOW the image is finally sharper in a pleasing way. Canon usually is softer. One key I'll give to people is if you're like me and prefer the Alexa look to Canon's ultra magenta, you can set the color matrix in each color profile to "production" as opposed to "neutral" and this changes the skin tones to knock down the magenta significantly and matches Arri's Alexa color much better. The autofocus is excellent. The lowlight is wow. I used the 24-105 f/2.8 together with the Camera and with the power zoom attachment. Wow that was all I needed. The image handheld was incredible. The battery life is not as good as the C100 days but I still LOVE the battery life compared with other cameras. I don't always want to use Gold or V mount, so this is a great option when you don't. I paired it with the Kondor Blue cage and Gold mount option with the Core snap system as well as the Core Nano and love it! Plus I attached the SmallHD Ultra on the top of that rig with the new Canon camera control and LOVE that I have control of the most important features. The C70's vertical mode is great. The C80 is fabulous also and now includes something Canon needed to have added many moons ago - a horizon level. The false color is great also. The skin tones are quick to grade. It really is one of my favorite cameras for the size and features. Yes I wish RED had built in NDs. I really need them for the work I do. This has all that. My only gripe is CF Express but I LOVE everything else.

Does the C80 color match the C70 in Rec 709, C-Log2 or C-Log3? The C70 & C300 III don't match the C300 II (~600K diff in WB).
Asked by: L
Because the Canon EOS C80 6K Full-Frame Cinema Camera (Canon RF) shares a sensor with the Canon EOS C400 6K Full-Frame Digital Cinema Camera (Canon RF), it is unlikely that the C70 and C80 will match. With proper color chipping and white balancing, they can be extremely close.
