Good size for day hikes with small camera equipment

Actually, I was just looking for a suitable backpack insert for my old, almost worn-out daypack (26 liters from another brand, with poor seams from the beginning), which wasn't designed for camera equipment. But since I would have to replace it soon anyway, and I've been very satisfied with the excellent quality and well-thought-out design of f-stop backpacks for years (I already own the Lotus, Tilopa, and Shinn models), I bought the Guru 4 AIR. My selection criteria were: a capacity of approximately 25 liters, no hip belt (unnecessary at this size), it should be lightweight, and it should have attachment loops for the Gatekeeper strap system. Unfortunately, none of the f-stop ICUs (backpack inserts) met my criteria (top-loading was a must), but thanks to another reviewer, I finally found the BYOB 9 DSLR for standard-sized DSLR/mirrorless cameras. The advantage of the BYOB 9 DSLR backpack insert is that it can be used either as a top-loader or as a front-loader (access via the back panel of the f-stop backpacks), depending on my preference. Maximum versatility, so to speak. Regarding the Guru 4 AIR: Don't expect the versatility and functionality of the bigger f-stop backpacks. It's a minimalistic model with pros and cons. At first glance, I wasn't convinced at all that it was the right choice, but after 2 days of hiking I'm quite satisfied with it.

The backpack has been comfortable to wear. It seems to be well-made. If you are looking at this backpack for the purpose of meeting airline dimensions, it does expand when filled to beyond the measurements listed on website. It did still get through as a personal bag for Iceland Air.  It came with instructions on how to put the ICU in, but not on how to remove it. (It was already inserted). It gets inserted into the top of the backpack and the way I was able to remove it, was to open the back section and pull it out of the bottom after releasing the velcro tabs. I rinsed it briefly with a garden hose without equipment and it did not get wet on the inside. It has not yet be used in heavy rain. I would also love if it had a waist strap. It also does not include a strap to use the ICU independently of the backpack--easy enough to procure, but if you are comparing the price of the ICU versus getting the backpack with it, that is something that would be different from buying the two items independently. 4 star rating because of lack of directions for ICU removal, ICU strap, and no good way to add a waist strap.

will this fit the Sony A74 + Sony 100-400mm gripped, plus Sony A7CR + 20-70mm gripped? Will there be room for batteries, charger

Unfortunately no, the f-stop Guru 4 AIR Pack for Female Torsos with Medium ICU would be too small to fit the Sony A74 with the grip and the 100-400mm lens with the A7CR with the grip and the 20-70mm lens.

What is the difference between the male and female torso sizes? I am a tall (5'10 1/2") female but my height is in my legs.

The f-stop Guru AIR Backpack is the same size for both the male and female versions. The difference is in the contour of the shoulder straps.
