Combining a wide-angle perspective with a fast maximum aperture, this 12mm f/2 AF Ultra Wide-Angle Lens from Samyang is designed for APS-C format Canon RF-S-mount mirrorless cameras and provides an 18mm focal length perspective equivalent to 35mm full-frame format. Two extra-low dispersion elements and one aspherical element are incorporated into the lens construction to help control aberrations and distortions for increased clarity and sharpness. Ultra Multi-Coating has also been applied to all lens elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color fidelity. The bright f/2 maximum aperture excels in difficult lighting conditions and enables greater control over depth of field and focus placement. The Linear STM autofocus motor provides fast, quiet focus. A minimum focusing distance of 7.9" is available as well as a AF/manual focus selector switch. The lens barrel incorporates a focus selector switch. The seven-blade diaphragm to produce a quality of bokeh.

For the price its tough to beat the fov and the speed of this lens. AF is decent and gives a really cool perspective for APSC bodies.

Used the 12mm Rokinon manual focus for years on my M5 but recently upgraded to the canonR50 for my travel camera. Just came back from a trip to France and the lens worked great every time. I used it for night landscapes and inside dark cathedrals. Never had a focus issue. Only one complaint. I use the extra function ring on canon RF lenses as an exposure compensation dial and I miss that on this lens. Certainly not a deal breaker.

Hello. I am a Canon R7 user and can I use this lens for astrophotography? What is the difference with the Canon RF 16mm?
Yes, the Samyang 12mm f/2 AF Ultra Wide Angle Lens (Canon RF) is compatible with the Canon R7 and it can be used for astrophotography. The Samyang will provide a wider view than a 16mm lens plus it is better in low light due to the wider aperture.
