Doesn't tighten well, constant "incompatible" battery errors with Panasonic batteries

I've used the DMW-BG1 extensively with my S5IIX and from day one have been bothered by the fact that it doesn't attach tightly to the camera. I can tighten beyond what it should take to secure it, and it still has sideways wobble to it. When shooting vertically, i constantly get a "This battery is not compatible" error when using an authentic Panasonic DMW-BLK22 battery. I have received this error with about 10 different authentic Lumix batteries. When I purchased the S1RII and then the DMW-BG2 battery grip, it's the same scenario - the grip never stays tight & I receive "incompatible battery" errors in it with the original Lumix batteries, Smallrig and even Tilta. I have tried about 20 batteries at this point. I have recently put this configuration into a Smallrig 5147 cage that I had hoped would secure the grip and camera. But I do still receive the battery error. And once I have the camera locked in a cage like this, it is hard to remove the camera to access the in-camera battery. Strangely, i have discovered that if I leave the grip loosely attached to the camera while in the cage, I do not receive the battery errors but this is not a good solution. Clearly there is some sort of defect in the way the DMW-BG1 and DMW-BG2 grips connect both mechanically and electrically to the Lumix cameras. I have found myself not using them any more as I do not have time to deal with the battery error and reset my cameras each time the error occurs. Maybe there is some way a firmware update can fix this in the future.

I’m finding this battery grip light enough and useful enough to leave on the camera all the time. I seem to accidentally bump the controls less than with the S1R grip when I forget to use the lock switch. The only odd thing is that the battery in the grip does not charge from the camera. Maybe a future firmware fix?
