SVS SB-5000 Overview

Add an earth-shaking punch to your home theater with reference-level accuracy and clarity with the R|Evolution SB-5000 15" 5000+W Subwoofer from SVS. To achieve such high-quality low frequency reproduction, SVS uses a 295 MHz Analog Devices DSP to control and optimize all aspects of power and audio production. App-controlled and customizable sound produced from dual Class-D monoblock STA-2000D amps with discrete MOSFET output that drive dual 3" edge-wound voice coils. The result is pinpoint accuracy with 2000W RMS (5000+W peak) power output, 120dB signal-to-noise ratio, and a low 17 Hz signal emanating from a large 15" high-excursion driver. All packed in a sealed, rigid, MDF cabinet that's engineered to achieve near zero resonance.
15" Driver with 295 MHz Analog Devices DSP
Every aspect of the subwoofer's output is controlled by a 295 MHz Analog Devices DSP with multi-point thermal, voltage, and current monitoring systems. DACs and processing achieve 120 dB signal-to-noise ratio through a 15" high-excursion glass fiber composite cone driver with 38.4 lb toroidal ferrite magnet motor.
Dual Amps and Voice Coils
Dual Class-D monoblock STA-2000D amplifiers with eight 200V/60A discrete MOSFET transistors drive dual edge-wound voice coils in an overhung motor. Each amp drives a voice coil to double the amount of current fed to the 15" driver, leveraging a low continuous current demand for your home's AC circuit. The voice coils are designed to ensure a consistent transfer of energy, resulting in maximum efficiency, precise control, and reference-level quality sound.
Sealed Cabinet Design
The SB-5000 is able to produce such clear low-end bass frequencies due to its sealed design and robust construction that work to eliminate vibration. The cabinet features a 2"-thick MDF front baffle and rigid internal bracing for the driver and components. The cabinet is finished with custom elastomer feet and a non-resonant extra-thick ABS grille frame covered in a fabric mesh to help protect the driver from damage.
Switch Mode Power Supply
In order to produce a pure, clear low-end sound from your home's AC power, SVS employs a switch mode power supply to ensure the subwoofer uses clean and conditioned energy. PFC (Power-Factor-Correction) time aligns the AC voltage to the AC current for less heat and improved peak power reliability. An onboard AC line conditioner filters and stabilizes this incoming voltage to correct waveform distortions and eliminate electromagnetic and radio interference. This works to make the subwoofer impervious to AC voltage fluctuations and ensure clean 160V rail voltage from a 15A home AC circuit.
SVS Subwoofer Control App
All of this exceptional technology is conveniently controllable and customizable by using your smartphone and the SVS Subwoofer Control app. Available for iOS, Android, and Amazon Fire, this app provides an easy-to-follow setup tutorial and explanation of all functions. It also lets you control volume, low pass filter, phase, polarity, six parametric equalizers, room gain compensation, port tuning modes, power management settings, and more. Three memory presets are available for fast and easy adjustment to match your listening preferences. Create presets for music, movies, night mode, and more.

With a future OTA update, auto EQ room correction will be added as a feature, letting you use a smartphone or external microphone to automatically tune, equalize, and calibrate low frequency output based on the conditions of your room and primary listening position.

SVS SB-5000 Reviews

Absolute Monster - Pressurizes a 26x14 Room with Ease

I recently added the SVS SB-5000 R|Evolution to my basement home theater (26' x 14'), and "powerful" is an understatement. I’ve been running this with a Yamaha RX-A6A and KEF R3 Metas LR, R6 Center, polk towers for surrounds, and polk es10s for heights , ran YPAO for calibration, made some minor adjustments on the SVS app, and the integration is seamless, but the raw output is what truly shocks you. The Power: During testing with some deep, bass-heavy tracks, I was hitting 115dB peaks on my sound meter with the Yamaha only at -16.5 and the sub-gain at -6. At these levels, the air movement is significant. I had a stack of cardboard boxes about 15 feet away that actually fell over just from the pressure waves. Tactile Impact: Even with a heavy, substantial couch, I can feel the entire frame vibrating. It doesn't just make noise; it physically pressurizes the room to the point where you can feel the pressure in your ears. It turns a movie into a full-body experience. Build & Sophistication: Don't let the "sealed" design fool you—this hits as hard as any ported sub I've heard but stays incredibly "fast" and musical. The SVS App is a lifesaver for fine-tuning the gain and phase from the listening position. It also runs surprisingly cool; even after a 4-minute heavy bass session, the backplate was manageable and only warm. 2 Channel Stereo music, (especially higher quality bitrate tracks) sounds awesome. Bass is very clean, very quick and very accurate. Final Verdict: If you think this is an "average" sub, you're wrong. It has massive headroom and built-in safety limiters that let you push it without fear. I’m already planning to add a second SB-5000 to smooth out the room even further. If you have the space and the power (recommend a dedicated circuit if you go with 2), just buy it. Testing was done on popular very bass/LFE heavy movies. Do a web search and it's the same ones that end up in the top 10. Same for music, and I also search for "rebassed" versions of songs on YouTube. The bass level is ridiculous but it really shows off the sub. There is a LOT of bass on these tracks and it is relatively clean, not just the EQ bumped up, so these are a torture test for subs.
