Venus Optics Laowa 8-15mm f/2.8 Reviews
Lens failed on first day in the field at Arches National Park

I have mostly purchased Sony E-Mount G lenses, and prior to that a full Nikon kit, I have never owned a third-party lens. This lens had great reviews and I was quite excited. When first mounted, I noted some wobbling. When I examined it, it was loose between the Zoom and the Aperture rings. I had the lens about 45 days, BH Photo deferred me to Laowa / Venus for service since I was outside of the return window. I am now sending in for warranty replacement - we shall see.

This is great lens. The focus is sharp and distortion-free all the way to the edges. I'm very satisfied. It's a shame that the shutter speed and f-stop information isn't displayed in the viewfinder and there's no autofocus, but at this price, it can't be helped. When shooting with the 8mm lens, the edges sometimes glow blue.

Any filter capabilities?
Any filter capabilities?

The Venus Optics Laowa 8-15mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens (Sony E) (B&H# VE815FE) does not offer any attachment points for filters, whether front or rear. The angle of view would result in any filter or matte box that might be attached to the front of the lens causing vignetting. Having said that, there are in-body filters available for use with some cameras such as the Kase ND8 Clip-In Filter for Select Sony Alpha Cameras (B&H# KAND8SA).
