If I wanted to replace the cable for a longer one, yet keep the high speed transfer, which cable would you suggest?
Asked by: Ronnie
I would recommend either the Urban Factory 240W BASEE USB-C Cable (6.6'), B&H # URCAB04UF, the Kondor Blue USB-C Cable (6', Kondor Blue), B&H # KOUSB4C6, or the OWC USB4 USB-C Active Optical Cable (10'), B&H # OWCCBLUS4A3M, for your 40 Gb/s USB4 usage needs with the Sony MRW-G3 CFexpress Type A Card Reader, depending on the length of cable you need. https://bhpho.to/4ta8Ltf https://bhpho.to/4rqWa31 https://bhpho.to/4qReJxn

The Sony MRW-G3 CFexpress Type A Card Reader, B&H # SOMRWG3, has a maximum bandwidth of up to 40 Gbps; using a Thunderbolt cable would not result in faster transfer speeds.

I have the MRW-G2 sony card reader currently. Is this MRW-G3 card reader "required" to read the new 4.0 memory cards?
Asked by: Dwight
The Sony MRW-G3 CFexpress Type A Card Reader (B&H# SOMRWG3) features an internal PCIe 4.0 bus to read CFexpress Type A 4.0 cards more quickly. Having said that, the previous version, that is, the Sony MRW-G2 CFexpress Type A/SD Memory Card Reader (B&H# SOMRWG2) can also read Type 4.0 cards, albeit at 3.0 speeds. While you do not need the new MRW-G3 to read the PCIe 4.0-compatible memory cards, it does offer faster reading of those cards relative to the speed at which the predecessor would read them. To answer what may be your next question, the MRW-G3's reading (or writing) of the earlier 3.0 cards will be at the slower 3.0 speeds -- the same speeds at which the MRW-G2 would have read them.
