Will the lens work with Ricoh's flash ...

Will the lens work with Ricoh's flash compensation setting to adjust the strength +/- ?
Asked by: Matthew
The function of the lens in relation to exposure on a Ricoh GR IV Digital Camera (B&H# RIGR4) is only to affect the amount of light that falls upon the sensor. The aforementioned camera's flash compensation feature itself does not adjust the aperture setting. The Ricoh GF-2 External Flash (B&H# RIEFGF2) varies flash intensity by modulating the power that it provides to its flash tube, and it does not use the lens in doing so beyond the aforementioned description of how the lens affects exposure. So, to answer your question, no, the flash compensation setting does not use the lens to reduce nor to increase the strength of the flash.

Will the photo preview in camera adjust based on the expected results from the flash, like in a TTL flash?
Asked by: Matthew
The Ricoh GF-2 External Flash does not feature TTL; however, when it's used with the GR IV, there is an ISO Auto Flash mode that can adjust the camera's ISO and the flash's power based on the distance to your subject.

Is this compatible with the GR III?
Asked by: Liam
The Ricoh GF-2 External Flash is not fully compatible with the Ricoh GR III camera; currently, the GF-2 only operates in "full-discharge" mode (full power as a manual flash). Ricoh is working on a firmware update that would make the GF-2 fully compatible in the future with the GR III.
