AMD 9850XD Reviews

Significant Upgrade over the 7800x3d

Great upgrade over my not even that old 7800x3d. With a mild undervolt, I am readily hitting 5.6Ghz across all cores with gaming workloads, compared to the 4.85-4.9Ghz that my 7800 managed. This coupled with the 10% or so IPC gains, means that I'm seeing gaming performance boosts of anywhere from 10-20% across a wide variety of titles, even at 4K with maxed GPU settings. This thing also eats boomer shooters and switch emulation for breakfast, for some crazy high FPS values in Tears of the Kingdom or even just good old GZDoom mods.

Best Gaming CPU

Slight uplift in performance compared to the 9800x3D with OC / undervolt it replaced at stock settings. As a 4k gamer still gpu limited with a 5090 thus should be good for years to come. Overall happy with the purchase as let move the 9800 to another computer that needed an upgrade. If you’re buying this you already don’t need to read reviews.
