Ilford 1960457 overview

  • 1Description

Ilford ID -11 Film Developer is for use where fine grain negatives are required without a loss of emulsion speed.

ID -11 ensures the best balance of fine grain, sharpness and tonal rendition, and can be used with all formats of film, producing negatives which allow a high degree of enlargement.

ID -11 is supplied as a powder and shows exceptional consistency in performance throughout its working life. ID -11 is a Metol - Hydroquinone borax type of developer.

It is made up to a stock solution for normal tank or tray use, and can be further diluted 1+1 or 1+3 for users who prefer longer development times, a higher degree of sharpness, and are willing to use ID -11 on a "one- shot" basis.

Development time in tanks (68°F/20°C) for Ilford Delta 100 35mm film: Stock solution = 7 min. Diluted 1+1 = 10 min. Diluted 1+3 = 15.5 min.
For Ilford Delta 400 35mm film (at 400 exposure): Stock solution = 7 min. Diluted 1+1 = 10.5 min. Diluted 1+3 = 18 min.
One liter of working strength stock solution (not diluted) will process 10 rolls of 35mm/120 film. Diluted 1+1 it will process up to 5 rolls of 35/120 film.
Storage time for Unopened full bottle ID-11 Stock solution is 6 months . For half full bottles of stock solution storage time is 1 month. If stock is diluted it can only be used as a "one-shot" developer and should not be stored.

ID-11 Film Developer is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient shipping and storage It is a general purpose developer for a variety of B&W films producing good results. It is very convenient because you can transport it without problems (due to recent shipping regulations you can not transport liquids). You can store the diluted stock solution for a long time (according to the spec. 6 months in airtight bottle). Hint: as you use the solution, put some marbles in the bottle to keep it airtight. Easy to dilute the stock solution. Add component B immediately after comp. A is diluted to avoid oxidation of active chemicals and filter it after dilution is ready.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The Ilford Standard This seems to be Ilford's standard developer. It has to be mixed up with water to make a stock solution, but it works fine. Does not have the ability to do as many different film types as DD-X, but has the major advantage that it lasts indefinitely until you mix it up. I keep a few packets around in case I run out of DD-X. Development times get really long if you don't use it as stock solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great I use this developer for HP5 Plus. It is terrific in bringing out full tonal ranges. It is easy to mix. One package will develop 2-3 rolls of 120 if you are using a 1:0 ratio and not re-using. Of course diluting will extend its usability. Ilford gives time increments for re-use as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and great results Developing B&W film from Ilford, Kodak and Rollei 120 film. This was the first chemical usage in 20 years, everything was very easy and the developer worked like a champ. developed six rolls

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works grate it was fairly easy to mix up, trickiest part is getting the temperature of the water right but once mixed and cooled, I cooled it to 20c it developed my roll of ilford delta 400 nicely, vary happy with the results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great developer at a great price A great general purpose developer, I use it for a variety of B&W films. Consistent results. It is easily mixed in two parts. I went with powdered developer for ease of shipping to cut back on weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fine grain developer I love this developer due to long developement times using it 1:1. In most cases it is longer than kodaks D-76. The developers are comparable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tried and True I've used ID-11 forever and know all of the boundaries for it for HP5, FP4, TX, Plus X, etc. Very stable with long (months) storage time for stock. Also very forgiving with a good curve including a long toe so you don't miss anything. HP5 is my favorite for medium and large format with ID-11. At 1:4 it has minimal grain with good contrast and no surprises. Highly reccommended.
