Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gets Stuck Once Clamped 3-stars for sturdy construction but faulty design. I have only used C-Stands by Impact, so I don't know if other brands suffer from this design flaw. When clamping a rod or extension arm you must choose slots at the the top side of the clamp head, or bottom side of the clamp head. They differ in size to accommodate the size of the arm you are clamping. When an object is clamped, the heads lose their parallel alignment from the pressure. When you try to unscrew to loosen clamp, the heads get stuck and need to be pried back into a parallel position with a screwdriver or similar tool before they will start moving again. Not a deal breaker, but a big annoyance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW Just beat the living daylights out of this grip head with a hammer after a crew error caused it to get stuck on a hollow shaft. We were absolutely wailing on it with two steel hammers for 10 minutes, eventually accepting that we would probably have to ruin the grip head to detach it from the shaft. Beyond our wildest beliefs, the head did not break and we got it detached. The head only sustained mild cosmetic damage, which was even more shocking considering the amount of force it was just subjected to. This was hands down best personal testimonial of I could have ever experienced. Impact just made it to the top of my list.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for light stands I got this to go on top of a neewer aluminum light stand and hold a boom pole holder. This works great. There are two holes that can be used for the thumb screw that tightens onto the top of your stand. For my light stands, i use the bottom thumb screw hole and it tightens up perfectly. The grip head itself is well made with good features including the aluminum washer that keeps everything in place once tightened down, internal spring that opens the clamp as you unscrew the handle, the guiding pin that keeps the two halves of the clamp aligned, and the bearing that makes tightening the handle easy and smooth. Im really happy with this purchase. This has made shoot days a little bit easier.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from too bulky for me It works ok for my boom pole holder, but I must say for this application I feel the clamp is too large and heavy. It's unfortunate that this is the one B&H sells for its boom pole holder kit - I advise you to get an avenger D200, which is more compact, nicer looking build, and fits better on a light stand.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good build Very weighty and has a great, solid build. I use it in conjunction with my boom pole holder when I'm recording interviews or when I'm doing recordings for long periods of time to save my arms. It clamps onto my mic stand firmly and works great! The only problem I have with it sometimes is on occasion it tends to slip when the boom is extended out all the way (4.6m), so it requires careful counter-balancing with shotbags. When it is weighted like this, its a little difficult to make minor position adjustments. But over all I'm very pleased with it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly What I Needed I use this grip head as an adjustable interface between my Austray Boom Pole Holder (bought here at B&H) and my heavy duty 10' light stand. The dual tightening points for attaching to the stand stud makes it acceptable for the shorter stud found on many light stands, and the black color is a non-reflective bonus that matches all of my other componants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow really solid I just got these so I cannot tell how long these will last or how they will survive in the field but they certainly are well made. The title by BH is a bit misleading.... These are not "chrome" per se but rather an aluminum alloy dull finish...not glossy.... I prefer the dull satin finish myself but for those who are fashion conscious they may prefer a shiny grip head. The handle is nice and thick and you won't have any issue reefing down a flag or pole. I would not pay more for this kind of item seeing how well this product is made.. It just does not have the "Matthews" or whatever name on it. I think it will do the same job. Didn't buy the black one and am surprised it is more money ... so cannot comment on the quality. But the silver ones are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great piece of gear! This is a great piece of gear, especially for the price. I compared it to the Avenger and Matthews grip heads, and after reading the positive reviews I decided on the Impact head since it was around $10 cheaper.I am totally satisfied - it is completely solid, and an excellent value.
