Remote Audio MCATG Overview

  • 1Description

The Remote-Audio Micro-Cat Windscreen (Gray) is a quality fuzzy outer layer wind diffuser plus two additional inner layers of open weave fabric made to fit snugly over lavaliere microphones. The windscreen makes the lavaliere microphone suitable for outdoor recording locations by protecting the capsule against noise from sudden and unwanted wind gusts.

For smaller lavaliere microphones, it is recommended to leave the foam windscreen on underneath the Micro-Cat for a tighter fit.

Remote Audio MCATG Reviews

Micro-Cat Lavaliere Windscreen - Gray is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bigger than I'd like but does its job I needed a furry for a very small Sennheiser lav mic. Another review warned against the Rycote as being too huge and recommended the Micro-Cat + the Sennheiser foam cover. That review was right on. I carefully installed the foam cover over the lav, then installed this furry over the foam. Everything was snug and I ended up with no wind noise at all. My audio was fantastic. It's too bad there isn't a furry small enough that I wouldn't have to mess around with the foam too but the end result was good so I'm happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Works, It Works, It Works! First time out I was shooting with 20 MPH wind gusts, no wind noise. I would much rather see a 1 round fuzzy thing than hear the annoying sound of the wind buffeting the mic. I removed the windscreen that came with the mic for a Sony UWP-V1 system and slid the Micro-Cat on the mic. It would be a two-man operation to get the Micro-Cat over an existing wind screen, one to hold the elastic band open at the bottom of the Micro-Cat and the other to push the mic with the windscreen into the opening. The Micro-Cat can be pulled off the mic easily which makes it nice when moving to indoors. When not using the Micro-Cat, it might be a good idea to keep it on the handle of the tiny screwdriver that it comes mounted on so you can find the opening when you need to put the Micro-Cat back on the mic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from purrfect fit We use this with the Sennheiser lavs. Bought one 8 years ago but is losing its fur. They do not work very well when going bald. A fine product but we wish it had a color coordinated threaded pull string to seal bottom of fur so it doesn't fall when groom gets hugged. It gets 4 stars because it will fall off too easily. Thanks BH for stocking a fine product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What's that Lint on the Groom? Not Lint just a windscreen that works great. I just mic'ed up a groom this week in pretty good wind and had little if no wind sound. Good price and small enough to tuck away when not used. As I monitored the grooms audio the mother of the groom tried to take it off his jacket thinking it was a big piece of further comment or B&H will pull this review! Works great! Used it on a Sennheiser Lav, fit snug.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little cat! This little cat does what it is supposed to do (Cut wind noise down) I would highly recommend this for anyone with a lav mic set-up, and shoots outdoors frequently... Dead cats are always frizzy and puffy in nature, so you really can't complain that it looks like a big black lint ball stuck on your subject... It's worth looking at this ugly little puff (As long as you get nice clean audio) Buy this! It's worth it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For screening purposes only! This cat is bad, you dig. Absolutely the best wind screen on the market today. Pros- We use it in the windy city of Chicago, takes the 20hz wind noise signal out to lunch and it never comes back. Cons - Looks like a used cotton ball. Love it too much. There is no downside on this baby! You can't go wrong.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works good I pulled the round foam windscreen off my Azden lav mic and replaced it with the Micro-Cat. Fit's perfect! The lav mic is about the size of a pencil eraser, maybe a bit bigger. Oddly, it comes with a jewelers flat head screwdriver, I guess to sort of justify it's ridiculous price. It's about an inch in diameter of fuzziness. I've used it for two outdoor weddings on blustery days and it does it's job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits my lav mics fine, should work I only gave 4 stars because they just seem a little high priced. I haven't actually used it in a windy situation yet, but it seems well built, and fit my giant squid mics just fine. comes with a little screwdriver. I think because that's the only thing they could find to put the windscreen around. Kind of weird, but not a big deal.
