Manfrotto 526 Pro overview

  • 1Description

The 526 Professional Fluid Video Head from Manfrotto is designed to address the heavy-duty, high-end ENG and EFP video market by offering a feature-packed fluid video head that borrows all the combined benefits of the 500 series heads with the ability to support top-weight loads over 15 lbs. It offers a removable and replaceable pan arm rosette so that if any damage occurs to the side castings, only a small part needs to be replaced.

Large rubber padded knobs are provided for better grip, and all the controls are located on the left side for easy access. This model features a fluid drag system comprised of three step settings for low, medium, and high drag levels, as well as the additional no-drag setting for snap-pans and tilts. Counterbalance is achieved through an adjustable spring for camera weights between 17.5 and 33 lbs. The built-in 4" half-ball adapts to a number of tripods with a 4-inch receiver. The camera can be leveled with the aid of the bright leveling bubble. It comes with one pan arm and the long 357PLV plate.

Adjustment knobs include: a sliding quick-release knob, interchangeable pan bar rosette, a counterbalance adjustment knob, and tilt & pan locking knob.
A spirit level makes for easy adjustments.
This model features a pan drag control.
This unit features a sliding quick-release plate.
It offers a sliding safety-plate release button.

    Manfrotto 526 Pro reviews

526 Professional Fluid Video Head is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great pans and tilts, not so great stops. Great smooth pans and tilts for heavy cameras. I'm using it with the URSA with lots of stuff on it, about 28lbs total. My complaint is that it is very hard to get it to come to a stop out of a pan or tilt and not have a little bit of snap back movement at the end. It's the best head I've ever used, but I've never used a cartoni, a miller, or an oconnor or a sachtler. I'm now looking into those for really high end work. This head will work great to support a heavy camera, but is only ok with movement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I've ever owned! Strong, smooth and adjustments are all intuitive. I was always reluctant to spend on a tripod but after this I will never go back to sub $ units.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from does what it's supposed to very smooth, well built, enables precise balance control love the adjustable drag controls gets a bit heavy after a long day

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome. Simple. Affordable. Much better (and bigger in size) than my 509 bogen manfrotto head. Great for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective Unit Having used a wide variety of heads, this unit is a good balance between effectiveness and cost. We are standardizing on certain heads and QR systems (Manfrotto 357) and so far feel that this is a good way to go for mid-level equipemnt. It is yet to be used extensively but the contruction quality promises to be satisfactory for a reasonable long life.
