The AJA XENA-LHe Capture/Playback PCIe Card offers a combined HD/SD workflow on the Windows XP platform. XENA-LHe ships with AJA's own stand-alone deck-control, playback and capture application, Machina, and a host of powerful plug-ins for seamless integration with leading graphics and effects applications, including Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Autodesk Combustion and Eyeon Fusion. Optimal file format support is offered in QuickTime and AVI, as well as in file-per-frame formats such as DPX, Cineon (LH/LHe), TIFF, TGA and BMP.
Flexibility
With XENA-LHe, you can record data directly from SD and HD decks, telecines, and film scanners into any of the following file formats: 10-bit DPX and Cineon, 8-bit TGA, TIFF, and BMP, 8/10-bit AVI and Quicktime. Flexible capture options, including "crash" capture and in/out/duration logging, allow you to save to disks single clips with full timecode support in quicktime and DPX. Got Audio? Up to 8 audio tracks of 16/24/32-bit embedded digital audio or 2-ch AES/EBU and analog support as well on the XENA-LHe card. Audio files can be mono or stereo, Quicktime or WAV.
Capture Made Pefect
Designed for Windows XP, XENA-LHe allows you to capture perfect HD/SD data from a variety of sources (digital and analog SD and HD decks, etc) into a format on disk that fits your post-production workflow. For example, if your whole post-production pipeline is based on a file-per-frame format such as DPX, then you can capture film/video data directly as sequential DPX files instead of having to write an AVI/QT file and then render to DPX files. File-per-frame workflows are no problem for XENA-LHe, with or without audio.
HD to SD Down-Conversion
XENA-LHe also provides incredible 10-bit hardware HD to SD down-conversion, which can be applied to any or all inputs or outputs. Digitize HD into space-efficient SD for offline work. Monitor HD files on an SD monitor. Make analog or digital SD tape masters from an HD project. Awesome workflow capabilities are yours with XENA-LHe.
Powerful Plug-Ins
Not only does AJA's XENA-LS provide powerful capture and playback features in Machina, but it integrates them into a variety of graphics/visual effects software applications to make operations even easier. Using plug-ins, sophisticated XENA-LS features appear as if they were native to the software application user interfaces.
AJA Machina Software
XENA-LHe also provides its own stand-alone powerful capture/playback application, AJA Machina, that includes full VTR machine control. Access to any and all XENA-LHe supported file formats, video standards, and video conversions are all there, in a very cool and easy to use interface. These captured files can then be imported into virtually any software package that supports these file formats, such as 3D animation programs, audio editing programs and much more. With Machina, you can also accurately output to tape files exported from these same programs.
Software Support
You probably already know about AJA's reputation for broadcast quality hardware excellence. Well, the new XENA-LHe card also offers incredible software inside: Windows XP drivers optimized for AJA's hardware, written and supported by AJA, powerful plug-ins for use with many 3rd-party graphics and video applications, and the AJA XENA Machina application that simplifies direct VTR capture/playback with A/V control in a stand-alone mode.
