Microboards QD-DVD-123 Overview

The QD-DVD-123 24x/48x Standalone 1:3 DVD/CD Duplicator from Microboards is a DVD and CD duplicator that supports standalone operation. A USB 2.0 port is present on the unit, but only communicates with one of the device's DVD burners. The duplicator is perfect for any user requiring easy copying of audio, video or data DVDs or CDs. PrassiTech Zulu 2 disc mastering software is included.

No hard drive is required, since the duplication process is on an as-you-go basis. However, you do have the option of installing an optional 500GB drive for disc image storage. The LCD screen provides the user with the status of the recording process, minimizing the number of faulty discs. With user-friendly, one-button operation and a sleek design, this duplicator is perfect for any environment.

Standalone Operation
The tower can act as a standalone burner. Simply insert the CD you wish to copy from in the top drive and burn up to 3 copies simultaneously with the press of a button.
USB 2.0 Connection
The tower also includes a USB 2.0 port for computer control. You'll only be able to burn to a single drive via this method. This allows you to create the master disc from a computer source and then duplicate from the master via standalone operation.
24x DVD, 48x CD Speed
The burners record DVD-R discs at 24x speed and CD-R discs at 48x speed. This lets you burn a set of discs in a matter of minutes. This is great for anyone who has a large quantity of discs to duplicate.
500GB Hard Drive Option
You have the option of installing a 500GB hard drive into the unit. This drive can be used to store frequently-used disc images.

Microboards QD-DVD-123 Reviews

Just wish it was mine!

Bought this for our Church. We make the services available for the sick and elderly. This cut my time way down. After spending a lot of time editing and making menus each and every week this was a great addition to the work flow. Was worried if it would copy the menu in as well and it does. It makes a perfect identical copy of all the info you built into your disk.

A optional hard drive will allow you to store frequently used disc images. You can load disc images from a DVD in a drive.

I don't have one of these, but the specs say that it can - "Supported Optical Discs CD-R, CD-RW, DL DVDR, DVDR, DVDRW" DL stands for dual layer.

The specs say this machine burns at 24x. Is there an option to change the burn speed? (To prevent burn failures, Mac recommends burning DVDs at 4x.)

question

will this system work with Mac/Toast?
Asked by: Bruce F.
Since we are making DVD's directly from MAC towers, iMacs, and MacBooks from Final Cut rather than trying to address an external DVD maker I have no experience with Toast. Speed wise as well as eliminating potential interface timing issues in disc writes we have found that directly cutting DVD's on the prime hardware is always preferable. Therefore our Microboards 3 disk unit, our 10 disk unit and our chained twin 10 disc units all operate independently and are not connected to any of the networks.
